We are from Florida so have lots of beach access here. I was wondering if there is still stuff to do on the ship while its docked? It's our first cruise ever so really want to get the most out of the boat.

Most of the onboard water features are empty. We stayed on the ship (my dad got off and went snorkeling very early and then returned); we enjoyed the Aqua Lab all to ourselves (was great to take my mom in her wheelchair up there when it was empty); it's also a great time to enjoy a windless, empty satellite falls. Oh, and no line ups at the buffet.

The Oceaneer Club/Lab (or at least one) will be in Open House mode the full day until late afternoon. You are welcome to stop by there with the kids. As mentioned, the pools, AquaDuck and water play areas are nearly deserted -- I do believe the nursery takes a "field trip" to Nemo's Reef at some point during the day. Movies are offered, the sport deck is open, the spa is open. Dining is available onboard. There may not be a lot of "programming" offered (i.e., mixology, towel folding, trivia, etc.), but the facilities are all open for those who choose to remain onboard.

Enjoy your cruise!

We watched a movie, had a leisurely lunch and enjoyed an empty ship on our last CC day. We didn't go ashore until about 2ish or so, and that was just for an hour.

When the ships are at Castaway Cay, the only thing NOT available is the shops -- they're not allowed to be open when the ships are in any port.

We went ashore for lunch, then went back to the Fantasy and rode the AquaDuck without a line.

We are FL natives and stay on the ship for Castaway Cay day - it's empty and we really love to wander arond, use the pools, etc.

Since we have so much beach access, Castaway Cay, while nice, isn't a must do for us.

We did parasailing, beach for about an hour, lunch and got back on ship. Watched a movie and did the Aquaduck about 100 times. Loved the empty ship!!!

Good for hubby shops r closed bad for me and the girls HAHA.

Thanks for all your help everyone

I live in California, where I also have access to a beach year round, but there's something to be said for the beaches of Castaway Cay. Serenity Bay is my happy place. I would not DREAM (see what I did there?) of missing it!

Agreed. My parents live in Florida and go to the beach a couple times a week. But when my Mom sails with us we are one of the first people on the island and literally one of the last people to board the ship (we've had to walk bc the shuttles stops running). In addition to the beach we also love the activities on CC (DD loves the family whale dig) bike riding, and walking the island.

Not sure about CC day, but on the Magic we found the slides did not open until noon while at port. We were really annoyed Nassau day bc we hoped to ride the Twist and Spout but it was closed.

We live on a barrier island and have a house on the sound so we are in/on/by the water 24/7. That being said, there's something about the Carribean and Castaway that is magical and we love our days there. We have however, gone back to the ship early and had a late lunch in whichever restaurant is open and it's very enjoyable.

DH and I strongly dislike going to the beach. We usually avoid vacations that involve anything to do with the beach. That being said, we love Castaway Cay. There is something very magical and special about it. Just go off for a bit and decide if you want to stay or not

We also have daily access to the beach but we love Castaway Cay, especially Serenity Bay, I would never dream of staying on the ship there.

Rainforest Room can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace if you decided to stay on board--

My wife does this regardless of whether or not we are going ashore at CC. When we have a SB cabana she still goes to the Rainforest Room for the first couple of hours and then meets me at the cabana. I'm usually over halfway done with a bucket of beer by then, and typically am napping in the tropical breeze. :D

Yes, plenty of things to do and the ship will be quite empty as well. You can check example navigators here for your itinerary. That being said, Castwaway Cay is almost an extension of the boat. Should you want an empty theater for a mid day flick, this is probably a great opportunity.

12/27/13 family went CC for the morning and returned after lunch to see a movie with about 15 other people. Frozen I think, anyone ever hear of it.
