So we are going on a 3 night cruise this 30th of July. As some of you may know we just got back from a 1 week stay at the CSR but let me explain
When we got back from our last vacation I got all depressed so I started checking my sister's Cast Member website for good rates on DCL. To my surprise we found an inside cabin for $312 dollars (and that's including transportation to port canaveral). At this good rate plus the fact that I fly for free (my dad is a pilot), who could resist the temptation? :lovestruc
Anyways, I'm drifting off topic here so...I was wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions on the Castaway couples cabana massage. What was your experience? and is it worth it? Thxs

Okay, everyone can laugh at me: I did this with my MIL. :rotfl: We both wanted a massage and my husband and her husband don't like them, so we decided to go together and do it. The CM's didn't act like it was out of the ordinary, so I was thankful there was nothing "romantic" about the experience...HAHA.

That being said, we didn't completely enjoy the experience, and it may just be because of the weather. That particular day was overcast with NO sun whatsoever, and the breeze was very chilly (this was in November 2006). Te open air cabana left us shivering like crazy. We specifically wrote "no sales pitch, please" on our papers that they give to you ahead of time, but the women giving us the massages did anyways. It was an okay massage, but nothing really great. I kind of wished I done the rasual experience instead...WITH MY HUSBAND, NOT MY MIL! :lmao:

What type of sales pitch did they give? For products? For additional services?? :confused3

For the products that they used. If I remember correctly, they used two different types of lotion/oil and recommended stuff according to our skin type.

if you don't want the sales pitch just politely say no thank you right away they will stop.

i too, have done the couples massage with my MIL!! We cruise 2-3 times a year and almost always do the cabana massage. Can't remember the last time they tried to sell me anything. And even when they did, a polite "no thanks" was well accepted.

I do remember thinking the treatment was expensive and the 20% tip added quite a chunk onto the total bill.

You just saved me! I totally forgot to include the tip in my budget! I would have been so embarassed!

Congrats! We are also on that crusie! We have thought about doing the Cabana massage but it was really warm last time in March and not sure if it will be too hot... Don't book it now... wait until getting on the cruise - they will put specials out and it will be cheaper.
Day of Port couples is a nice one and about $300 total and very nice... I believe if we can get all the kids settled we are doing that one.

Are you joining in any FE's
You should check the one out for July 30th on the board :)

they were asking about a cabana massage which is only available on CC, and they do book up. so i would reserve asap, do to the limited amount of spots.

We did the cabana massage last September and enjoyed it so much we are doing it this September as well. Both cruises had/have 2 days at CC so I feel we aren't missing much to take this hour out for a little pampering.

We've also done the couples massage on the ship and I like the one on the island so much better because the room is open and you can feel the fresh air on you. Heaven on earth!

We are on the same cruise (July 30) as well and I have been watching the bookings for the couples cabana massage. As of this morning, none of the appointments have been booked. There is availability for all times for the single cabana massage as well. I think we will wait to see if they offer a special deal onboard. One week from tomorrow! :cool1:

I did a single cabana massage in 2001 and didn't think it was anything special or worth the money and have never done it again. You basically are in a small dark cabin with small windows and are a good ways back from the water. You are right on the bike path.

If you pre-book a spa service but then they offer a special onboard, will they give you the special price instead?

We LOVE the couples cabana massage - just the sounds of the water and birds and the usually lovely breeze that's coming through the cabin makes it incredibly restful. We've done this on the ship as well and it was fine - but the cabanas is my favorite. We try to book it for the end of the day at Castaway Cay so that we can enjoy our fun in the sun and then head back to the ship after the massage (you're supposed to stay out of direct sun afterwards - or so they say).
