I was wondering.............since we have cruised already, should we qualify to be Castaway Club Members, or do we qualify when we book a 2nd cruise? I was looking in to prices and noticed on Dreams that you could include your membership number and I do not have one.:scratchin

Contact DCL - you should have received your stuff if you have cruised and will be a "card carrying" member.

We cruised years ago in 1993 when it was considered "The Big Red Boat"....and that wasnt Disney directly but it was indirectly....
They wont consider us a CC member because it was not dcl...
I think that stinks!

In 1993, Premier Cruise Lines operated the Big Red Boat. They had a contract with Disney (DCL didn't exist then) to have Disney characters on their ships. Disney did not renew that contract when it expired...there were many reasons rumored--the company decided to quit loaning out their characters to anyone, they were not satisfied with the quality of Premier cruises, DCL was in the planning stages.

So, there was no way that Premier cruises (which is now bankrupt) was "indirectly" a Disney ship. Only a cruise on DCL qualifies you for the Castaway club. That said, a Castaway club member does not get a discount on future cruises unless they are booked while on board. You do get a small gift--currently a beach towel and 2 pins. You are also invited to a reception with free drinks and eats.

If you have cruised on DCL and not received your Castaway Club card, you should call them.

Yes, I understand that ...I am sorry ..what I meant to convey was that they had the Disney characters on the boat, not that the boat was indirectly 'Disneys'.
I always relate it to Disney in my mind because when we booked it-we book the land/sea deal and that is who we sailed with.

We just got back from our second 7 day disney cruise and still do not have any" formal" club documentation. Before we went on our secound cruise ( we booked our secound cruise while on board during our first) , I phoned disney about the castaway club, they said we where registered as " repeat cruisers" and did not need card to prove it. We we checked into the cruise terminal for our second cruise, the check in person said there was " special treatment or line for castaway members". We did get all the benefits like the discount, towel , pins, special party with the captain. We still have not recieved a " Club Card", it does not matter anyway.

We did our first DCL cruise Nov. 23 - 27 and received our Castaway Club documents on Christmas Eve!

as i wrote last week, we did not get any information about it (even after i called a few months after our cruise)..
however i just called DCL the other day to check on our reservations and she said that we are all listed as return cruisers on our reservation and that's all we need....

We had to call DCL in order to receive our CC Membership Cards..it took a few phone calls but we finally received them! Cathie

we just got our CC member card (about 4-5 weeks after getting off our first cruise). The bugger is that the card is in hubby's name only ... so DD and I aren't considered return cruisers, so all future cruises need to be booked under hubby's name. :)

My travel agent contacted Disney when we made the reservation and they recognized us on the phone as Castaway Club members but she had them send us out our cards anyway. As memory serves it took several calls. But I proudly carry mine in my billfold even though I probably do not need to.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :jester: :earsgirl:  :earsboy:
