So, from what I have read, the CC challenge is not happening with the upcoming 2022 Marathon Weekend. Of course, we are set to sail on that cruise, having moved it from 2021. Just wondering what other runners in the same "boat" so to speak are planning to do?
I am guessing the main options are:
1) run at marathon weekend, then go on cruise to relax and pretend running doesn't exist;
2) run at marathon weekend, and do the CC 5k and bring our virtual medals from 2021 and pretend it happened as the rD challenge;
3) don't even mess with the cruise and change our cruise fare to a different cruise (keeping in mind, that of course, we don't even know for sure any cruises are going to be happening)

I suppose I'm just frustrated that we've had that cruise fare tied up all this time and the only reason was do the official rD challenge. I don't think they'll extend FCC or our onboard discount all the way to January 2023.

Does anyone think they may add it in for 2022 later if the cruise industry becomes more reliable to schedule? (not likely, I'm guessing)

thanks.

Also, I didn't put this in the overall marathon weekend thread because it's very hard to find race weekend specific information in there amongst all the SAFD posts and such.

I say go with option 2! We brought our virtual medals last fall to WDW when W&D was cancelled. It was fun! Either way, enjoy!

We're also booked for the cruise (rebooked from 2021). Have they said they're definitely NOT doing the CC race, or have they not said and it's presumably going to be based on whether cruising is back open/to the degree cruising is open?

DH is trying to run every rD race in a year. The CC race would normally be a part of that and it's something he very much wants to do. However, we also have several other big trips in 2022 so it'd be hard to justify going on the cruise if the race isn't happening.

(What is SAFD?)

I have been planning to do the Castaway Cay Challenge (Dopey + 5K at CC) and am booked on the Dream immediately following Marathon Weekend. I was disappointed to not see it listed in the race offerings for that weekend, but considering all the uncertainty, I'm just happy we have an in-person Marathon Weekend. Because of that, I will do Dopey at Marathon Weekend and then do the cruise. If they offer the 5K "fun run" I'll likely participate and have my own Castaway Cay 5K.

Maybe they'll add the Castaway Cay 5K option back once cruises start going? Fingers are crossed!

We’re in the same boat, so to speak. We are doing Dopey and we want the CC medals to cap it all off. DCL is supposed to start up again in August, but maybe a lot of people will be nervous to cruise again, so they are holding back the official CC race from Marathon Weekend. Boo to that idea, I’m ready to race again and then cruise.

Taking last years virtual medal, sounds like a great idea, and an option I hadn’t thought of. Hmmmm 🤔🤔🤔

We also want to do it. We emailed RunDisney as well and was told since Disney Cruise Line is not sailing, the castaway cay challenge cannot happen. They went on to say it will be re-evaluated in the future. I am going to stay positive.

We are going to do option 1 or 2.
