i've thought about surprising my hubby with a couples' cabana massage (we'll be at cc on our anniversary!)

i've already got brunch and dinner reservations at palo for that day. (overkill? nah....)

so the question is - are they good? are they relaxing? i've had massages where i left feeling absolutely blissful (and jelly-like) and i've had massages that i've left feeling sore and robbed.

i don't want to drop the $$ only to be disappointed. (and sore and grumpy afterwards)

reviews please!

I have never done it. We will be going on our first cruise in September but a number of our friends have done it and loved it. They said it's amazing with the ocean breeze flowing through the cabana.

Wow - I don't know that I could handle brunch AND dinner at Palo in one day, much less a massage in between! I can say that I've had a massage before brunch at Palo, but I wouldn't want anyone touching me after brunch where it entailed any pressure on my midriff!

If you can shift one of those 3 events to a different day, I'd d so.

Oh - to the basic question - my best friend from college and I did the couples cabana massage to give us time to gab without our DHs and we loved it! We try to do a "couples" thing each time we cruise - last time it was the spa villa! In fact, I think I've only done those things with my girlfriend and never with my DH, now that I think about it!

If the massage is to rough say so. I loved mine on the 1st cruise but my cousin hurt for 2 weeks later. Make them adjust to what feels good to you.

Really you may want to rethink having 2 meals at Palo on the same day. Both are Huge meals and it is very easy to eat to much :rotfl2: . I'm sure you will love them both.

I agree that I couldn't do brunch & dinner at Palo on the same idea.

We did the couples massage on our 1st cruise & LOVED it.

My only complaint was that I didn't want to leave the cabana. I wanted to fall asleep right there. It was so peaceful to hear the ocean & look out at it.

The advice I received about getting the massage was to make it for early in the day in case you get burned out in the sun.

Enjoy your special day!

We have ours booked for the 11:00 - 11:50 slot. Walk out and go for the steak sandwich @ SB :woohoo: Don't see walking around much after that, to relaxed :cloud9:

First, I agree with changing brunch if you can. That, to me, is just too much to try and fit in on a single day.

The cabana massage is wonderful. One thing to remember though is that there are hedges between the cabana and the beach for privacy reasons. As a result, you will not have a view of the ocean while the massage is going on. That being said, you do get a wonderful ocean breeze while the massage is going on and it is incredible peaceful.

But be prepared for the shower they ask you to take before and after the massage. The water is ice cold.

DW and I have experienced massages (both couples and singles) at both the Vista Spa onboard as well as the cabanas at Castaway Cay. IMHO, the massages onboard the ship are much, much better. First, you are in a spa room, with great relaxing music, the lights are dimmed and the masseuse has every conceivable product handy. Second, onboard, you have total privacy in your room. At Castaway Cay, it is light out, you hear people laughing, talking both outside the cabanas as well as in the cabana right next to yours (not at all soundproof). No music, less relaxing and more rushed. I also agree about the mandatory shower. It's a step necessary at the beach but not onboard.

I would enjoy a massage (I do think singles are better than couples) at the Vista Spa onboard and enjoy the sun, fun and beaches at Castaway Cay.

i really have thought about both meals in the same day being too much, but we are doing the 4 day double dip cruise and the brunch is only offered on the second castaway cay day.

i really want the dinner to be on our anniversary - the same day as the brunch...we had such a special time on the last trip at palo - i would love a repeat.

so i was at an impasse. so i figured we would do both. i try not to overeat at any of the meals (because there is going to be more food right around the corner!) plus i get bloated and sleepy if i eat too much and i don't want to spend the cruise passed out in bed. ;)

i will think some more about the massage on that day...the comments are great and have given me some food for thought... keep them coming!

any other romantic ideas are appreciated!

I'm still trying to figure out how any massage on Castaway Cay could be bad...?

:confused3 let me go in your place and I'll give you a report....;)
