Considering the 5k on Castaway Cay but need some direction. My wife and I would like do the 5k 1st thing in the morning but not sure what to do with the kiddo. What time can you take kid to Oceaneer's club and/or is there somewhere on Castaway Cay? What time can you get off the boat for the 5k? My concern is not getting a lounger/chair while on Castaway Cay since we would have to go back to the boat, change, pick up the kiddo and head back. I suppose the last question is frowned upon, but would it be ok to take our stuff down and get a chair before the 5k, meaning save a chair, 5k, back to boat, back down? Thank you for any advice.

The club/lab is closed and kids that age go to Scuttle's Cove in the island. This is on the way to the start line. Just be all ready and drop the kiddo off on the way to the start line. There's a box at the start/finish to hold bags so you can bring your stuff off. It's not locked, but there are people around.

FYI: Shuttles Cove on Castaway is for kids 3+. If you have a child in the nursery that is still on the ship.
There are plenty of chairs on Castaway. Most people get off at the first stop. Just continue down a bit towards Cookies 2 and you'll find plenty of chairs.

Thank you for the replies. Kid is old enough for the Shuttle Cove, so that sounds like a plan. I would be concerned about leaving items in a storage area without a lock. We might as well leave our stuff on a chair if unlocked. Our last cruise we did indeed go to the second stop, but around 10:30-11:00 we missed out on a good seat/area, hence the concern. I suppose the real question is what is the average time to get down to the beach to grab a seat? Thanks again for the replies.

If you are going to do the 5k and then go back to the ship and shower and then go get your kids from the club that will take about 2 hours. That's a long time to put stuff on chairs and not be there.

You will have no problem whatsoever getting a prime lounger - or even hammock- after the 5k is finished (unless you are reaaalllly slow). We ran the 5k a couple weeks ago and when we were finished I'd estimate that the beach loungers were AT MOST only 20% occupied. The 5k finishes right at the top of the beach, so travel time once you are finished is literally just a few seconds.

They do have an oversized box at the start/finish area where you can stow your gear. There's no guarantee of supervision/security of your bag but I was more than comfortable leaving my bag at the box. It's well within sight of the cast members who are at the start line doing timing and handing out the medals.

By all means, take advantage of Scuttle's Cove and don't bother going back to the ship after the 5k (it's actually a LONG way back from the 5k start/finish). That way you can all get off as a family first thing in the morning. There are showers just a few feet from the finish line where you can rinse off, and then you're good to go back to Scuttle's Cove to pick up the kiddo. Easy-peasy.

I was concerned about getting a chair on the beach after our 5K during our August cruise and I also thought about leaving our bags to secure a spot. However I didn't do that. I left my teenage son on the ship so my daughter and I went back on the ship to shower and change. We had no problem grabbing a spot on the beach afterwards. In fact there were alot of spots available.
