I hate sand in shoes. Hate it with a burning passion. No matter how many times you whack the shoes against a wall, there's always another mountain of sand waiting to come out. Just when you think you got it all, there's more! And 3 weeks later, you're still finding sand. Our plan on Castaway is to do the 5k on the suggested path first thing. I found some pictures and it looks like it's largely paved? Is it paved the whole way, or should we plan on walking this thing in flip flops?

After the 5k, kids are headed to Scuttle's for a bit. Is that paved as well, or should I bring some flip flops for them to change into?

Thanks!

The 5K route is paved. I think Scuttle's Cove is on sand, although I'm not sure since it's been some time since my kids were there.

We were just at Castaway Cay last week and our 9 year old went to Scuttle's Cove; it was paved to the entrance, and then there was a mix of sand and paved areas once inside but still mostly sand.

I also hate sand in my shoes and did the 5K run with no issues. I just stayed on the path from the ship to the start line and then the rest is a paved area (bike path, airplane strip). However, there is a "hairpin turn" around a 5K sign next to Serenity Bay that makes you go on a bit of sand, but you could always cut it short by a few steps if it's an issue.
