we have booked concierge for Dream 12/2017 sailing. Planning to request cabana through concierge. Would like cabana in the number 4-9 section. Do I let them know our first choice as far as cabana numbers go? Or is it randomly chosen? Also, how likely is it that I would
get my desired cabana number? TIA

When you submit your preference (at 125 days out) to the shoreside concierge, you can specify which cabanas you are interested in. However, if someone else books them before your request comes up, you may be randomly assigned one.

Supposedly concierge requests are dealt with on first come, first served basis, as measured by the time the email/ phone call is received. If you hit the send button shortly after midnight on the 125 day mark, your chances are pretty good you'll get what you want.

I would suggest following up the next day and indicate your preferred cabana #(s) and don't be afraid to rank them. I sent seconds after and got the 2nd one selected, not that it mattered much... we've loved all of them. #10 was a bit on the shallow end of the water though.

This is what we actually did.

In your experiences is it almost impossible for a new DCL cruiser (non-concierge) to get a cabana during non-peak times?

My cruise on Aug 12 just opened up to first timers and there were still 3 cabanas left. When I booked when when silvers opened, there were still 8 available!

Always possible see above, but they go fast, on my two concierge Fantasy cruises, we pre requested, I logged in at 00.00 " just to see" and all gone.

The price may put some people off however, do always look and keep looking.

Personally I would want DCL to charge anyone booking these at the time they book, and not on the cruise, this may stop some booking it, as they can, but not really having the intention of using it and cancelling at a random point.

Awesome, thanks for the info. We are going in January, 3 adults no kids, it's our first DCL cruise and DW and I don't do well in the sun, thought it would be a good investment instead of fighting with an umbrella all day!

If you get off early and walk fast to the beach you can get shade from trees and an umbrella.

A cabana is worth it, you get a lot included, we used the bikes, the snorkel, and food and drink in it, as well as the private beach, and the hammock.

Just email the concierge team when the window opens (125 days I think). They will also send you an email with the exact date. Tell them what number Cabana you want, and other choices....

I emailed them with a request for the lowest number available starting at number 3. Works great.

You get an email when they book the cabana for you. They take the requests 125 days out but only book them right before the platinum cruisers can.

I usually write the email and schedule it to send at 12:01 on the day. System time gets my requests in as early as possible.

I've always requested a specific number with my second choice being as low a number as possible. I've always gotten my first choice though.

I requested a cabana with shoreside concierge twice. First time I got the cabana I wanted, second time I got a different cabana but it was close to the one I requested so I'm OK with it.

Number 12 is our favorite

We had #5 on our recent Fantasy cruise. We are gold and there were 2 left on the family beach right at midnight when we logged on.

Love this idea! With the high demand, it's frustrating that people can book them, tie them up in a reservation and then cancel them a few days prior to the stop at CC and not have a penalty.

I have been fortunate enough to snag a cabana on 2 of our 3 cruises. We didn't even try on our first because it was a last minute booking and didn't even know there were cabanas. On our second cruise (Fantasy), one opened up weeks before our cruise. On the third cruise (Wonder), there were a handful of cabanas left when the silver window opened up so it is possible to get one. Your chances are better when you sail on the smaller ships. Fewer people to compete with and more first timers.

Login to DCL's website
find your reservation
go to: explore activities
find:the CC day,
go to: view or add activities
click on the Port Adventures ...scroll to Cabana...if available the Cabana ---beach, #- will be in blue. If sold out, then in gray and unavailable. I believe they hold back one or two for boarding day (for instance for my cruise in July, 2 are not listed as available or unavailable).

If you haven't PIF or are outside of your booking date you won't be able to look at what's available (since you can't view or add activities, I believe).
