Hi everyone.
I'm new to this forum. Great site and message boards! I've had a great time reading through them!
It's very exciting to me since I'm settting sail in late January as a cast member. I still don't know what ship or the exact date but I'm very excited especially since I've never been on a cruise before!
But my question is are there any people on this site who are or who have been cast members with Disney Cruise Lines? I'd love to get some tips and advice before I leave and get the inside scoop.
Thanks!

Amabelle, how exciting for you, working on DCL.

I am not a cast member but I love to cruise on the Disney ships.

I just wanted to welcome you to the DISboards with your very first post.

Let us know what ship you will be working on. I am going on a cruise on the Wonder on Jan29 for 3 days. If you are going to be on that ship I would love to look for you and say Hi.

What area of the ship will you be working on?

Thanks for the fast and friendly reply!!
I am going to be a youth counsellor.
My preference is the Magic and the teens age group but I've left my options open.
I just have to wait and see what they have available.
I'm really trying to find a site with tips from other cast members. It's a very exciting and almost surreal experience to think I'll be aboard for 4.5 months straight. I want to be as prepared as possible so I can settle in and enjoy it quickly.
I do look forward to meeting people and I'll be sure to update when I know what ship I'm on!

I believe I saw a link on DISboards just for cast/crew members. Look on the main page. Good luck!

Hi from Nat in sunny England! Welcome to the boards. Good luck with the new job! My daughter is currently aboard the Magic - as a server - and has worked on it for 3and half years. We know just about all there is to know - re:working on the ship! Happy sailing! Nat

Congratulations Annabelle. I am sure it will be a great experience for you. It is an honor to be chosen as one of Disney's cast members I am sure. Keep us posted here!

My son works on the Wonder as an entertainer, and I feel close to the Disney experience because of that. Have you worked for Disney before? Again, good luck! You'll find lots of information here.

That is so exciting! When I was younger, before kids, I used to dream of working on a ship (and even applied on several). Good Luck and have fun!

Well it looks like you have a good resource base right here with family of crew members, maybe they can help you find out what you need to know.

If you end up on the Wonder in the teenage counsellor area, I will be bring 2 16yr old girls with me at the end of Jan. I will look for you just in case you are on there:D

Hi Annabelle,

We will be on the Magic February 28th. I have two teenage daughters (15 and 13). If you are on the Magic they will be with you.

Where are your coming from ? You have a French name are you coming for Québec ?

Hope to see you on the Magic and good luck with you new work.

Hey! You have my dream job!! Best wishes and let us know how you like it when you return!!

Thanks everyone for the replies!! It's so encouraging!
I got the call today and I leave January 20th!!! wheeee!
I don't know yet which ship I will be on but I am starting out with the 10-12 year olds. I will look to transfer to the teens once a position becomes available.
As for previous questions, I am not from Quebec but from southern Ontario. Amabelle is just my online name. for anyone looking for me on the ships, I'm "Amy" from Canada.

I'm very excited and reading through everyone's glowing reports on the cruise, I'm confident that it will be an incredible experience.

Thanks for all the supportive replies. I hope i get the chance onboard to make your experience even more fabulous!

Welcome to the Dis, neighbour.
Just curious, but how does one get to be a counsellor on DCL. I'd love to steer my DD14 in that direction. Come to think of it I wouldn't mind applying once she's on her own.
Thanks

Amabelle, do you have to go through training first or are you going straight onto a ship.

Good luck and congratulations, I will look for you on the Wonder on Jan 29 and if you are there I will say HI.

First question: To get involved working on Disney cruises, you can go to www.disney.go.com/disneycruise/jobs/ And for future reference for your DD, minimum age is 21. I got lucky and found an ad on a local internet job site and they were doing interviews in Toronto that week.

As for training, crew has 3-4 days training before going on the cruise. The training takes place in Orlando.

Just over a month and I'm turning in my life for the Disney Cruise Life!!!!!!!! wheeee.
