I talk to a Disney Cast Member today, who was working one of the Previews Booths for upcoming Walt Disney World pins releases, who told me that the Cast Lanyard pins will be going away, I was kind of shock at this news, maybe somebody can Confirm this info.

With some of the stripping stories, maybe it's for the best. I liked it the way they did it in 2000. Pins were introduced on lanyards, but eventually made it onto the racks. For the person who liked to hunt or wanted to be the first on the block it was fun, but it didn't really provide an incentive for lanyard stripping since anyone would be able to just buy one if they were patient.

I think it was a very nice gesture on Disney's part to start something like that. But they should have known what would have happened by making something exclusive.
Agree with hope -- and it even makes more sense, from a marketing stand point, to be wearing a pin that guests can also be inticed to buy if they really want it.
Maybe what they should have done is STARTED a series on lanyards, and then the remainder of the series sell (at reasonable costs) the remainder of the set.
Like the Pooh train. Rather than have bits and pieces, have LOTS of the Pooh to trade from CM lanyards (so there are plenty for anyone who wants it) and the rest of the train release like one piece a month in stores or via mail order.

It would be fun if they did something like this and then sell the remainder of the series at the DS. It would be nice to see the two of them work together, rather be competitors.
