Hi,
My son fractured his wrist the day before yesterday and was given a splint for the next 2+weeks. He is devastated that he won't be able to swim in Disney this upcoming week. (We leave Friday for Florida) Has anyone had success using a cast cover for swimming? I am considering buying one so he can swim, just looking for feedback before I spend the money.

thanks!

The docs are going to wait 2 weeks to cast the fracture? That sounds odd. :confused3 If you can get it done before you leave, ask for a waterproof cast.

they aren't casting it...it is splinted, but can't take the splint off while we are there. He really wants to swim, and it was suggested we get a cast cover for it. It is a Torus fracture, does not need to be casted, but he needs to not use it and let it heal so that he doesn't make it worse.

One of my daycare kiddos fell and broke her arm on the 2nd day of the summer! The only thing that saved our summer was a cast cover that was ordered off of amazon! Worked like a charm!!

Thank you kirbyx5! That's where I found the one I want to buy. I'm going to do it, hopefully salvage his pool time :)

Thank you!

My son broke his arm last spring prior to moving from Texas. We had one month left and a pool. I ordered a silicone cast cover off amazon that was blue and looked like a fin. You pumped the air out. We also wrapped it in press n seal prior to putting on the cover.

My son had a cast cover over the summer, but I only used it for baths. It was so tight his fingers would start to turn blue, and that was only with washing him not playing in the tub. If using one I would be very careful that it doesn't cut off circulation.

Thank you, I did read to be careful for how long it is on. I need to measure his arm...I figure we'll give it a shot. worst that can happen is that we don't use it and he doesn't swim.

FWIW, I got a cast cover from Walmart. It was fairly cheap and I would not trust it for swimming. It was ok for showers, but I'd get something better if you're going to let him swim.
