I'm sure this is out there somewhere, but I'm being lazy. Last cruise was in 2016 and I think there have been changes to when they hold these. Do they still offer them on the 7 night sailings or is it only on longer than 7 night sailings?

Thanks all!

Only on cruises longer than 7 nights.

Since they are now offered only on 8+ cruises, which are mainly once-a-year cruises that attract a lot of Gold and Platinum CC members, the reception is now often held in the WD theatre and consist of a behind-the-scene demonstration. They pass around drinks and you get a Rice Krispies Mickey at the end.

Thanks, that's what I thought I remembered reading. Bummer, I always enjoy the reception. Just means we eventually have to book a longer cruise.

In my opinion you're not missing much. Doesn't seem very exclusive when you fill the theater full of people. We were on 8 nighter in October and some in my group actually left after the first 10 minutes or so. They've either got to up the criteria or do something about the Castaway club tiers. There's just a ton of gold and above cruisers now.

8+ cruises and once-a-year cruises attract a lot of Gold and Platinum, but shorter cruises on Dream and Magic, and even the 7-nights on Fantasy are still mainly filled with first time and silver cruisers. Castaway Club is not very big in DCL’s marketing approach, unlike most other cruise lines. As a previous guest on NCL, RCCL, Celebrity and Azamara, I receive at least 2 emails per day offering return cruiser sales. I never receive promotional emails from DCL.
