The last few days of our stay DL closes early so we're thinking of heading down to SD to check out a few casinos. Do any of you know how to get there or can you recommend any of them? I think one is Barona, and there are a couple others I've read about, like Viejas and Rincon. If you've been there or know anything about it I would appreciate any info.
Thanks!

ETA: also heard about Pechenga. Are there any others and which ones do you feel lucky at? :D

I have been to Pechenga and had a good time. It is pretty big and has a large poker room. I drove up from SD, so not sure how far from LA it is.

Thank you for the response!
Anyone else know anything about how to get there or had any luck at these casinos?

Harrah's Rincon runs buses from the SD and LA/OC areas - check their web site. Barona was very nice inside and out and it's closer to SD, although all of these Indian casinos are by definition out in the sticks. I've never had luck at any casino, so can't address that part of your question. ;)

Thank you so much for the info! Hmm...now which one do I feel lucky at?:rotfl:

According to my MIL (who goes far too often imo!) Barona and Harrah's have the nicest food and service. She also mentioned a couple of others not yet posted here, Valley View and Sikwan (that's how it sounds, not sure how it is spelled) and likes them pretty well too.

Thank you! I'll look around for more info on those... :flower3:

I've been to Barona and really loved it. I would recommend you try it. It is out in the desert or stix, but to us it was worth it.

Pala is closer to I15, right off of Hwy 76.
If you're planning to go FROM and back to Anaheim, there might be casinos closer to you, though, than the SD ones. Not only do you have to go south, you have to go quite a ways inland.

Sycuan Resort & Casino is the other in San Diego. As an employee at Harrah's Rincon, I'm a little biased in that direction but since my sister is employed at Pechanga I have to say that is a very nice casino also. Pala, Pechanga, Harrah's & Valley View are the most popular in the area. There is also a smaller casino between Pala and Harrah's named Pauma Casino. My mother and her friends will sometimes do stops at those 5 casinos in one day just to use their players cards and pretty much waste a day. Please note that since the economy downturn, casinos operate many of their restaurants on a limited schedule, especially during the week. This sometimes limits your options as to where to dine on a week day to the buffet or a cafe. I'm sure you'll enjoy a stop at any of them.

Enjoy your trip!

I just heard that Valley View Casino has a bus that will pick you up in Orange County and bring you to the Casino and back and gives you perks for riding it.

DH has been to Temecula dozens of times for work and has always stayed at Pechanga. He says btwn Pala and Pechanga, go Pechanga. It is easily located right off I-15. It is also far larger than Pala, more open and just had an expansion. The restaurants there are really good as well. He also wanted to mention...unless you already knew, the game of craps in CA is played with cards and not dice. Can you tell he likes to play craps?

Not to mention our neighbors across the street here are Luiseno Indians (the tribe that runs the Pechanga).
