cashless tolls

Has anyone taken the P24 pass and if you did was it worth it or do you wish you'd not bothered?

We are flying into Miami and driving up same day to Orlando, I'm looking to take out the pass 24 as I want to get going as quickly as possible and the shortest route involves a cashless toll ( 112 airport expressway).

Is it worth it or a major rip off? we have car hire for 8 days and then a 7 day cruise. so it's not a 14 day hire.

if your planning on driving from Miami and want to go the fast route you will have to use the cashless option i am afraid (for the rest of Florida round Orlando no need for one)
Think you will just have to pay and grin and bear it
Oh and yes a major rip off

$6.99 flat fee per rental day

$36.99 maximum weekly fee Pass 24® must be sold for the length of the rental contract. It cannot be purchased only on certain days. Pass 24 ® is a duration-based model and provides unlimited toll road access for a low daily fee per the length of the rental agreement.

so i guess you'll have to get it for the full duration of your rental period

i think i would do it if i were you. driving from miami, i'd rather take the toll road.

Couldn't you use the TOLL-BY-PLATE system instead?

EDIT:

Looks like you don't get the option on a rental car.

It might be worth looking at other companies as the amount extra you pay for the rental may be offset by the toll charge.

think as having a hire car you will be locked into what they offer you
The system your is when you get a ticket for a violation it gives you a chance to pay before a fine
Fat chance the rental company's will pass onto you they will just pass on fine and an admin fee
only way round not getting one is a sat nav and when put in Ask to avoid tolls

If on airport sometimes you have to pass a toll to get off airport so if you do no way to avoid

Your right about the car hire companys - a few years ago we accidentely drove through a paid toll booth Never thought anything of it apart from we may get stopped - abut a month after returning there was a charge on our credit card for £35!!!: I imagine that was their fine and admin fee - and all for 75 cents!!!

We are also having to drive down to Miami next year and I think I will take into consideration the cost of the pass before deciding which rental car firm to use. Based on the current information Budget appears to be much cheaper.

We have already booked with Dollar as there isn't many companies that do a one way hire to Port Canaveral.
We will be doing OK on the return trip as we only have a two day hire and the $6.99 per day should be less than the cost of the tolls.

We have read through the P24 conditions several times and we think the $6.99/day includes the cost of tolls, am I right or wrong?????
Can anyone, that has been, confirm this?

We drove from Miami this year and managed to avoid the cashless tolls. We came back from Orlando on the Turnpike, but left it and joined the I95 before we got to Miami. You still have to watch out for tolls but it is possible to get to the airport without passing any of them.

from how it's written it does seem as if it includes the tolls.

as i said, i would go ahead and do it. there are also toll roads in orlando and also on the way to the port.

it's not that much money in the grand scheme of things...(hopefully, it includes the tolls )
