Just got a letter from US Air. Seems I can cash out my Miles for several magazine subscriptions. I only have 7,658 miles, but can get a few good mags for that.

Anyone ever do this?

My miles will probbly never amount to any free flights anyway, b/c we rarely fly US Air.

Is this a scam? It says all over it that it is free. Just turn in your miles.

Any opinions?

Thanks All!

It seems like a good use of those miles for you, given that you rarely fly US Scare/Air. The airline will probably be out of business by the time you accumulate enough for a free trip;) (especially after Southwest muscles them out of Philly) so you might as well cash them out on some magazines, if they are ones that you wanted to get anyway.

It is a bone fide offer, and we have used miles in exactly that way for the same reasons as you.

I did this a few years back on an airline's mileage account (can't remember which one) that I knew I could never be able to use.

It wasn't a scam, at least in my case. The magazines came that I selected for the term identified on the sign up sheet.

We did this with some NW miles last summer, got several good magazines which we will probably continue to subscribe to after the term ends.

It's not a scam.

I get United miles for shopping at my local supermarket, but I never fly United, so I just use the miles for magazines. I've been doing this for a couple of years now. Other than a few magazines they don't offer through this program, I haven't paid cash for my magazines since I discovered this!

I've done this on several airlines that I fly infrequently. It's a good way to use those miles that you cannot use otherwise and you get something good for it, too. My only complaint is that some airlines don't offer a great selection of magazines, but I've usually been able to find something.
