Cash Stay discounts with resale contracts?

We are on the fence about purchasing a contract. Are the current resale contracts still eligible for cash discounts after the changes a few weeks ago? What is the average cash discount? The contract is on the small size for what we wanted but at a good price so I really want to make it work for us!

I own resale @ BCV. Just called MS last week to inquire about cash room availability for November at member discount. Could have booked a room @ OKW for 25% off rack rate.

The best you get as a DVC member is 25% off rack rate on DVC resorts only. But it isn't always available.

I would not advise paying direct for the discount. Because it's on villas only, against the inflated rack rate, you are almost always better off booking on a public discount.

It's only discounts on DVC rooms and it's 25% off rack rate. You can often do as well or better than that with other discount options.

I'm not positive but I'd believe any member can probably still get the discount since it really isn't that big of a deal.

Thanks for the replies!! I really would like more points but it may be safer to get a smaller contract and purchase another at a later date if we need the extra points as bad as I think we do! I just thought it would be easier paying one set of dues and worrying about only one use year, but if we get a great price pending ROFR then Ill just have to deal with it if we chose to add on later.
