Cash rooms.

When can we book cash rooms and how does that process work? We are going on a 5 night Disney cruise and plan on following it up with 3 days at vero beach. Due to the nature of our trip and the fact we need exact dates I am thinking of trying to do a cash reservation or purchase points for the 11 month booking window. Our trip is about 12 months out at this point.

Call MS and ask for specifics. If rooms are available they offer a 25% discount from rack rate.

I just called Member Services about this last week. I was told you can book a cash room at your non-home resort with the discount at 11 months. However, she also told me that availability does vary and something might not be available at 11 months but could be available at 4 months. Regardless, I will be calling at 11 months to try to get the room I want!

The question is it more cost effective to rent points at 11 months or try and do a cash reservation. Or is there an advantage to a cash reservation.
