If a cash reservation is booked with MS and linked to a "points" ressie, when does the member pay for the cash portion?

I just did this and was told that I pay for the cash ressie upon check-in. The reservation was held with my credit card but that will not actually be charged until check-in.

We did that once, back in the mid-90s. At that time, when we checked in it was just added to our room charge.

When we did this for one of our four nights at VB in early January, the room was charged to the credit card at the time we checked in. It posted right away and showed up on my January bill. The balance from our room charges (we charge virtually all meals, bar bills, and in-resort shopping to the room and settle the bill at check out) was posted to the credit card at check out. I noted this in particular, because the second charge will be on the next bill coming mid-February because it posted after the closing date.

Doing this for 11/2004 and had to give CC to hold.

We always do a room charge, so is the Cash part charged to Room Charge or CC, thereby having all Vacation charges at one time or Two seperate charges?

As I indicated above, two separate charges. The "cash" for the room stay is charged at check-in, the charges to the room (using you room keycard) at check-out.

Note that your credit card is not charged for the cash nights until you actually arrive. Also, you can cancel up until 6 days prior to arrival without penalty. This cancellation period applies even if you are paying rack rate rather than getting the 25% members discount if you make the reservation through MS. This is a much more generous reservation policy than that offered by CRO. CRO reservations require a deposit well in advance of arrival. I have a VB reservation (actually two linked reservations) in June paying rack rate for the first night (the members discount was not available) followed by three more nights with the 25% discount. No deposit was required, just a credit card to hold the reservation.

The credit card you gave is only to hold your ressie. That doesn't have to be the card you pay with nor do you even have to use your CC. We plan on paying for our one night cash ressie with actual cash when we check-in. You could do this if you don't want two different bills.
