If you make a cash reservation at a DVC resort as a DVC member do you have to pay the one night deposit that they require at other resorts?

I just made a cash reservation to extend a summer trip at HH next year. I was asked for a credit card to hold the reservation, but the CM said I would not need to pay until checkin. I was a little surprised because I was expecting to be charged for a night now. I don't know if that is different for HH or a DVC wide policy!!
