Cash reservations???

I booked our trip using points for late Nov/Dec and want to add an extra night paying cash. I looked online and see that a BLT LV one bedroom is available but member services says no. What am I missing? TIA

I assume you are referring to the DVC cash discount that is sometimes available? Even if there is cash availability as a whole that doesn't mean that the DVC cash discount (usually 25%) is available during that same time period. That is probably what MS is trying to tell you.

Obviously you could book the villa with cash going through the normal WDW reservation system, it just wouldn't qualify for the DVC cash discount.

What you see available on line is not DVC/MS inventory. That is inventory that either does not belong to members because it hasn't been sold yet or has been given over to DRC to sell to recover the costs of non-DVC vacations by members.

You could make that reservation through DRC, but you would not be able to link the two reservations and you would be required to check out and check back in. You might have to change rooms.

When MS says they have no inventory left, it means every thing they have is already booked for points or cash through them.

Just because they don't have anything for cash now doesn't mean it will not come open in the future. As members trade out for non-DVC options, cash rooms can become available.

That all makes sense. I will keep trying over the next few weeks since our airline hasn't yet opened up the ticket window for when we are going. Thanks everyone!
