Some friends are coming with us in March. Can we get them a DVC discount, do we have to be in the same room as them?

Technically the member must be in the room to get the cash discount. But realistically if you do the transaction and it's in your name with him added, you should be fine since you'll be there to do the check in.

But if adding your name exceeds occupancy of the villa, you could have problems. Also, if they are getting the dining plan, they will have to purchase it for you as well.

Actually the member would be able to do the check in but only list the other party so it would not affect either issue.
