We're flying in late on Christmas day and staring 12/26 we staying at the BCV -- we usually like to use that first night to stay at a property where we've never stayed before ..... once we did Coronado Springs, the AKL (great!), Pop Century, Port Orleans, Riverside (I think that's it).... any suggestions for that one night (don't want to go overboard with the price either since it's just overnight)....we have never used any sort of discount code as a DVC member for a room ... how does that work ... (we are AP holders also).....is the DVC discount really 25%???

Thanks for the input.....

The 25% Member's discount is available only when member inventory rooms will not be needed for point reservations. You can certainly ask, but don't be surprised if BCV is already booked using points for Christmas - Since that is a Saturday, there is always a chance something will be available. If it can be booked thru MS, the reservation will be combined with your point stay and you won't have to change rooms.

I'd just call MS and see what's available.

Good luck!

FYI, there may not be AP codes for the holidays either.

thanks for the quick replies --- I will call MS and see what they have available .... I don't necessarily want to stay at the BCV -- we stay there 3/4 times a year -- we usually like to try a hotel where we haven't been yet -- does the DVC discount apply to places like the Contemporary or the Poly or even All-Star ??? We've stayed at OKW, SSR but not BW as far as DVC properties... ::MickeyMo pirate:

No, it doesn't. The DVC member cash discount (when available) only applies to the DVC resorts. MS cannot even make a cash reservation for a non-DVC resort - you'll have to call CRO/WDWRC.

Best wishes -

12/25 is a Sunday, I think the chances are it is already soldout but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Amazingly, I would not assume that it is sold out. There actually was plenty of availability for the holidays at BCV at the 7 month mark. I switched in for December 23 and 24 (already had the 25th booked) and MS said both days that I called that there was still plenty of availability for the week. Of course, things could have changed in the past three weeks, but it would be worth a call.

Even if there are still rooms available, I doubt they will offer the 25% discount on 12/25. As Doc said, it's only offered when DVC projects vacancies. I can't imagine that would be the case for Christmas night.

I agree. And even with the DVC cash discount, you are talking about a minimum of about $270 per night for a studio on Christmas night. So, if you are cost conscious, a cash DVC room on Christmas night might not be the best option.

Thanks for all the input -- I did call MS and they came up with a rate of $334 for a studio at the BW - for an overnighter it's not really worth it -- now I'm just waiting for the AP rates to come out for that time of year -- as it stands the full rate is only being offered i.e. Value - $119 - Moderate $184.00 and Deluxe at $484 - for the deluxe it's gotta come down a lot more than that -otherwise it's a 1night stay at Allstar Movies!

I don't think it's "gotta come down" for Christmas night. The resorts are apt to be wall to wall sold out. There won't be any motivation for Disney to offer discounts. As a matter of fact, if you want to be onsite that night, you might want to book a backup ressie somewhere so you have a room.

Well, I just thought it was a bit overboard to charge almost $600 for a room at the Poly when a studio at the BW is going for under $350.00 -- instead of it gotta come down, perhaps I should rephrase my shock and awe on the rate with "it shoulda come down..." Being a DVC member - I rather stay at the BW at $350.00 a night than the Poly at $600 - just doesn't seem worth it, particularly for just one night

bah humbug : :sad2:

I don't know if you heard, there's a change regarding AP rates. They have a new program and the rates go up to 12/19. So chances are there will not be AP rates for 12/25.

Pre-9/11, there were never any discounts during Christmas Week and you were lucky to get a room at all. The past few years the bad economy, foreign tourists staying away and just a general reluctance to travel had the effect of Disney having to offer discounts. The past year, things have started to turn around and we may soon be returning to the low to no discount at holiday time. If you really need to be in Orlando on 12/25 I would make a reservation somewhere -- on or off site -- to guarantee a place to stay. Then you can start to keep an eye out for a good deal.
