Cash? Debit? Gift card? MB?

We use MB and charge it all to room, the day we leave you get the total and I go online, load our Disney visa points onto redemption card and pay the tab hopefully in total with points. I'm hoping our F&W trip in two weeks will all be paid with points, got 1300.

Read your bank polices I know at my bank as long as it is run under credit and not with my pin number I get the exact same protections as if it was a credit card

I was thinking that also. I can’t even recall last time I used mine as a debit. I always tell them to run as credit because I was told way back that it’s easier for them to hack into your account if the machine is altered with so they pull the PIN you entered and you can be stuck. And my debit has a chip on it which is supposedly safer so I think I’ll have to check it out. Between the chip and me having them run it as a Visa as opposed to debit…. I would just hate to put money on a gift card, not spend what I put on it and then not get that cash back and leave it on the gift card.

Ok, I misunderstood too. We are not staying at a Disney resort (we are staying at Shades of Green). When I added my MB to MDE, it asked if I wanted to add a credit or debit card number.

That must be where I read that. That sounds familiar. Now it makes sense that you can’t charge since for on property guests it charges the room and not a card it is more clear to me. :daisy:

Using the EMV chip is more secure than the mag stripe. I believe that Disney has updated all (or most) of their CC readers to have a slot for EMV cards.

oh, I thought you could link your cards to the MB. My error. Where did I ever come up with that??? Why do you say never use a debit card? I don't have credit cards so that's why I use debit for everything.

Debits are very unsecure. Even our bank told us not to use it as a credit card. Use it only at an ATM.

Since the onsite hotels have been charging before they hit the dollar threshold recently, I would be careful waiting until the end to do that.
