Cash and then Point Rental? Room change?

Question - I can rent points for 5 nights in a 2 bedroom, savanna view at AKV, but I can't rent points for the first two nights I want to stay there. BUT - those first two nights are available for cash through Disney. If I do that combo - what's the likelihood I could stay in the same room? I am looking into changing my dates - but that's tricky in this particular case for me.

If you can book exactly the same villa size and booking category, you can give the owner you rent from the confirmation number for the cash reservation and ask them to chat/email/call Member Services to put a “continuing stay” notation on the DVC reservation. Then you call the Disney Resort Reservations number, give them the DVC confirmation number, and ask for the same notation to be placed. Don’t make any other requests. When you arrive, go to the front desk (whether you do online checkin or not) and ask whether you’re set to stay in the same room. If not, that’s when they can most likely fix it! Disney will try to keep you in the same room - saves housekeeping costs for them, convenience for you!
