Casey's Is Ruined For Me!

Yea! They did away with my Twinkie Tiramusu at Pop !! I was not happy but they still serve cheese fries ! Go figure!!

 NOOOOOOO! :sad1: That is one of the main reasons we stay there! Have to have it every morning for breakfast. Do they still have the tie-dye cheesecake?

Is the taste really that different to the white buns? I only ask because i've seen some photos posted of 'those buns' and they really only seem to have a few specks of wheat, I wouldn't even call it brown bread, its white bread with a smidgeon of wheat. Maybe the photos were deceptive?? :confused3

Aside from Epcot, we're avoiding CS our next trip. Thank goodness we're staying offsite in a condo where we can make our own large breakfasts. We buy or bring snacks in and just plan for offsite dinners. It's a shame, for sure. We stopped eating at a lot of TS places over the past couple years because the quality has gone down (as well as portion size, menu creativity, etc). The one saving grace was CS options were bountiful and actually quite good -- with the exception of maybe MGM. Now we're seeing the CS that was offered in the '70s and '80s.

YUK. :scared:

Plutoluvr, we are thinking the same thing!!
Quality is going down, prices are going up. I really don't feel like paying for food I'm not going to be able to eat.
We usually have breakfast in our DVC villa and then head to the park. We carry several snacks to make it to early afternoon, then head back to the resort. Most of the times we will have a nice sit down meal out of property.
Really, between the prices and the need to make reservations 6 months ahead, it is way to stressful to eat at WDW anymore.

I mentioned this on another board, what about wheat allergies. Is this optional or is this new grain bread all they offer?

Yes it is yet another Casey's buns thread.. and can I add it makes me absolutely bonkers when I go to put on my traditional mustard and relish and the bun is already split in two pieces.. All I did was take it from the person giving it to me.. unwrap it to put on the condiments and it is broken in two already. I do not think so and I will not be eating there anymore and the more Disney forces their choices on me, the more I will choose to eat elsewhere.

Hey we can always walk to Picabu's, do they have hot dogs.. not a Disney restaurant so I am sure they are not jamming wholewheat down out throats..

What is next.. think of this.. omg, Schoolbread made with wholewheat.. At French bakery, croissants made with wholewheat flour, all pastries made with wholewheat flour and caraway seeds..Now I am even laughing at how ridiculous this is.. it is selective wholewheat substituting....DISNEY, WHY???????????????????

Its worth a shot - if they get enough emails - I think that's better than complaining (and dont get me wrong, I can do both!) on a message board!!

Wait a minute the pizza, is now served on whole wheat crust?? Come on now.
I was just there 2 weeks ago & the pizza was absolutely fine. In fact, we at it 2X at AK & 2X at MGM (Hollywood Studios).

I don't think I had any hot dogs or burgers while there though so I can't comment on their buns. Not to mention, I can't walk by Casey's without gagging. The smell of sauerkraut makes me sick!

Please tell me they won't go TOTALLY HEALTHY and outlaw funnel cakes?!?!!?!?!?!?!

I agree with you... white bread is not going to hurt you on vacation. Especially with all the walking you do at WDW!

jen

no worries! We were at MK today, they are still serving funnel cake. We saw a LOUD woman feed funnel cake to the ducks. The CM asked her to stop, she said she could do what she wanted. She thought it was funny, until she fell on her butt (and then people she had been annoying laughed)

We sat and ate our very nice lunch brought from home (numerous food allergies and wheat buns are not something we eat) and thought about the money WDW is losing from us.....

Good God, what's next? Fat-free frozen yogurt in the Mickey Bars???????

OK, I eat really healthy 99 percent of the time at home, wheat bread, veggies, etc. If I WANNA eat crud for a few days while I'm on vacation, Disney better respect my decision!

And I'm with the OP from last page -- I hate it when I have a broken bun too. That bun better be Wonder-Bread-Bouncy!!!! :earseek:

They carry gluten free bread, pizza, and mac and cheese at one CS per park. If you email the WDW food service they will send you a list of which CS places carry these special wheat free foods.

I did not taste any because of my allergies but yes in reading the ingredients binder they are mostly white flour and are technically called muti grain on the packaging. They have a small amount of whole wheat flour and then some other grains that seem to be the little bits my kids were complaining about like sunflower seeds and rye flakes. They really aren't that much healthier than the old buns yet apparently the taste is very off putting to certain people. ANother poster commented on how the pizza was fine to them but my WDW pizza loving kids definitely noticed a difference but I think kids are more attuned to texture.

This is really uncalled for. Someone is bound to be allergic to wheat or the seeds in the buns...

Wheat is wheat. If you are allergic to wheat then you cannot eat a white bun made from wheat flour. It is still wheat - just processed more than whole wheat flour. You would need a bun made from some other flour, which was not the standard offering before this change.

That's not quite accurate. My DS6 had a mild wheat allergy (outgrown now :) ). He could eat Wonder bread type white breads, because the protein from the whole wheat that caused his allergic reactions is not present in very processed wheat products. There was no need for him to eat gluten-free bread products A friend's DS12 has a mild wheat allergy. He's fine with saltines and white breads, but gets a rash from real whole wheat products. He could eat Casey's old buns, but probably would have a problem with the new ones. If you've ever tried one of those gluten-free breads, you'll find it's not something most people would eat by choice. A kid like my friend's shouldn't have to have his hot dog on something completely unfamiliar like the gluten-free buns just because Disney is allegedly concerned about it's guests eating habits. If you add in the new warnings for people with nut and seed allergies, a lot of people are adversely effected by this change for little or no benefit to the overall well-being of the average Disney guest.

There was a thread about this a while back - titled "Casey's Buns"( ) Anyway, alot of us in that thread emailed WDW our complaints about switching to the wheat buns. It seems we all got the standard automated response: Thank you for emailing....WDW cares about what you think....blah, blah, blah.

It was suggested that WDW would feel the impact of our dissatisfaction MORE if we returned our food to the counter if we did not feel like it was what we ordered - or expected. Certainly, if many people start bringing the food back, someone in charge would have to take notice! I think that would be more effective than just boycotting those items.

I agree 100%

Ditto... I have Ulcerative Colitis and things like certian types of seeds and whole wheat will set off a reaction. I don't want to be sick durring my trip. So I guess it is either bring buns from home or skip things all together :(

See thats sad I think u should go on vacation and be able to have a big sloppy burger if u want not have to worry about carrying around a epi pen.

My little boy was just talking about this morning before school how on our first day he wants a Hot dog from the magic kingdom. He loves those. He hates wheat bread ugggg:sad2:  :sad2:  I won't eat at the places where they have made these uncalled for changes :snooty:
