Hello again- one week tomorrow and we're off on our first visit to DLP!
I'm planning what rides to try and do as we only have 2 full days.
I was reading somewhere that Casey Junior is closed this time of year-does anyone know if that's the case? I've learnt that Peter Pan will be closed for maintenance the whole time we're there but can't find out about Casey.
Also, apart from POTC (which my son will adore as he's pirate mad, thus the disappointment for Peter Pan). What would be your top rides for a five year old boy? Thanks again

Hi Skala,

Well, I think a must do for a five year old is
Buzz Lightyears Laserblast
Autopia
Riverboats or Keel Boats
if he is not afraid of roller coasters and tall enough
Big Thunder Mountain
Crush Coaster at the Studios

We have been in February 5 times from 2004 to last week.
2004 - Casey Jr closed
2005 - Casey Jr closed
2006 - Casey Jr closed
2007 - (you can see where I'm going with this :rotfl: ) closed

Last week - :cool1: it was open. It was open when I went in October and when I went at Christmas, so I'm guessing they've had a change in schedule and are keeping it open right through.

When are you planning on going?

I hope Casey Jr is open next week, ive not been told its closed yet.

I've been in February, October and November 07 - never got on Casey Jnr yet! Or the Storybook ride - they were closed all the times we've been.

I'm hoping this June will be our lucky time for getting on Casey Jnr :goodvibes !

We went on Casey Jr when we went in early Feb.

The only time i have been on Casey and Storybook was June :thumbsup2
Casey was a lonely ride aka we could go and go on as none was queueing :confused3 but we enjoyed it and so did my then 6 years old son.

He found Storybook a girlie ride though:confused3

Thanks everyone for the ideas and info!
Casey Jnr sounds promising so fingers crossed-we'll be going midweek so I hope it's not the case that they only open it on weekends!

When you get to Disneyland check in the park schedule to see whether Casey Jnr is open. When we were there in December it was only open on certain days of the week. We didn't check early enough and by the time we did it was closed again!

It sometimes even says it's closed on the board and gets opened up. That happened to us one Sept. :thumbsup2

If it is open it's only from 11am until 5pm though (as is the storybook cruise)

Casey Junior, the Storybook Ride and Autopia all have had seasonal closures in the past (closed from October til March/April). Since the start of the 15th Anniversary Celebrations though they seem to remain open all year, so fingers crossed :thumbsup2

Hopefully will stay open until we get there in May, my DS (2) knows he can ride the big train, the little train but not the fast train. Would hate to see him disappointed.

:cool1: We had to ride on casey junior at least 5 times when we were there from 17th to 21st feb as ds 3 loved it. i'm glad it was open and was not aware it is usually closed in feb and would have been very disapointed as would dh as i think he is even keener than ds 3 if the truth be known:rotfl:

I would agree - go and physically check even if it says it's closed on the park schedule. It has happened to us a couple of times that it's been open when not advertised. This is great as it is usually very quiet then and you can go on again and again!
