After you tell me "Who is buried in Grant's tomb?"

But I have to say...I remember Christmas Eve midnight mass was at 11 PM. So there!

How did this conversation get started? LOL Only had one cup of coffee...need another!

I don't know - let me check the first post! :rolleyes1

I think she said YES to his marriage proposal!!!!!!!!!

Naaaahhh .... he said "Casey - we've been together for a long time know and there's something that I really need to ask you ..." and she *thought* it was a marriage proposal.

Someone needs to post the after-photo when she realizes that he finished that sentence with "Do you really think you're going to get an innocent verdict?"

Slightly off topic:

Does anyone know how the court would handling the swearing in of a witness who happened to be an atheist? I ask because they seem to use the "so help you God" phrase (I think a lot of jurisdictions have gone away from that).

This question comes to you courtesy of my "Why is the sky blue?" file.

Lately, I think they've pretty much done away with the "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you God". The last trial I was in the jury for, the court clerk simply said "Do you swear that the testimony you're about to give is the truth?"

I think you can take an oath of affirmation if God is going to be mentioned. Basically you “solemnly, sincerely and truly declare and affirm to tell the truth".

In this trial, they've been saying the bolded.

That comes under the heading of "When is the 3:00 parade?" Both have an explanation, but do you really want to hear it? :headache:

Blue light from the sun is scattered by oxygen in the atmosphere. The atmosphere scatters violet light even more effectively, but our eyes are more sensitive to blue.

So the sky is blue because of us. Really it is violet!

And the time of the 3:00 parade depends on the precise interval between your current coordinance and the coordinance of the parade outset, taking into account the accuracy of the planned parade commencement chronology.

In Session saying Juror 4 (the one who can't judge), again taking notes when defense is up but not when prosecution is up. She said she watches this a lot because she has noticed it a lot.

Found an interesting article about what the experts are saying about whether or not Casey should take the stand. Pretty much it's the only way to prove what Baez said in opening statements, and it could humanize her to discourage the death penalty.

It depends on each state, I guess. I just went by what went on at the trial I was part of the jury for.

In this FL courtroom, they would give the oath of affirmation for those who don't believe in God ... but you would need to request it in advance.

I saw that. Wonder what it really means. Is she looking for reasons not to convict? All the commentators are saying she never should have been on the jury. How do you put someone in a "job" that they have expressed they can't do?

This was asked and answered by Jim today - ("Pros" being short for "prosecution"). He's in the court room every day.

Yep. All the time. Pros is easier to understand. “@urbangemsy: @Loves_Jasper Does #4 ever take notes of prosecution testimony?”

I think everyone is reading too much into her "I don't like to judge people" comment.

I think it was said on here that the defense claimed the prosecution didn't want her because of her race (not because of what she said!) and the judge agreed so then she had to stay. I don't know how true that is just what I read on these threads here (can't remember if it was 1 or 2).

:lmao: You crack me up! Perhaps this should be altered and put in the FIRST POST? "The disparaging comments about Baez and the defense contained in this thread may or may not be held by EVERYONE on the planet."

Oh...and I'll read that link! Thanks.

And Sonny on In Session said the only reason she can think of for George to cover this up was that maybe he is Caylee's father? Wasn't he tested and that was ruled out? Seems like that would be easy to prove or disprove.

Quite possible. Thanks for the tweet post.

Oh yeah, I know how that all transpired (90 page jury selection thread!). Someone who expresses the "hardship" that she doesn't like to judge people and that it should be left to God probably isn't juror material, no matter the race.

Yes, it's been proven. Isn't Sonny's point that since he isn't the father, he HAS no reason to cover up an accident?

The situation with Juror #4 reminds me of the time I sat on a jury for a armed robbery case.

A young man (23, blond and good looking) went into a hotel and robbed it by gunpoint.

The case was pretty simple. They even had him on tape. He had a sweatshirt with a hood, but it was clearly him.

We had one juror who would not convict. She admitted that she thought he did it, but she didn't want to send someone so young to prison. We sat there for almost a week, trying to convince her. We sent 3 hung jury letters to the judge. He kept sending us back.

This girl should never have be placed in the jury. She was 19 and very immature. She never listened during the trial. There were several instances when we were discussing evidence and she had no idea what we were talking about. She kept crying everytime we would state the facts of the case. She cried because she was missing school. She cried because she was missing her boyfriend. She cried because she missed her dog.

Finally she voted guilty. This was the morning of day 7. I think she voted more for herself than about the case, but we were happy to be done with it.

One of the bailiffs came to her afterward and told her she had done the right thing and she shouldn't feel guilty. The defendant had robbed 4 hotels from NY to FL. He was picking up money on his way to spring break. He had already been convicted in 3 other states. This information never was disclosed during our trail.

I can see Juror 4 holding out. I would rather have someone with a strong opinion either way than someone who doesn't want to be there in the first place.

Makes no sense. If your granddaughter drowns in your pool, the body is buried or cremated NOT tested for paternity!

There really is no reason to cover up a drowning. Unless it wasn't an accident.

I asked that question before and was told he had been tested. I have found no information on the web about this though.

I think if Baez had any evidence to support the abuse claim he would have concentrated on George and Casey. I don't think bringing in botanists and dna experts from the Neverlands is working.

That is all I can think of. The defense didn't really give a reason why he would do it other than how mad Cindy would be, right?
