Awesome baseball game! We won!
Thanks for saying the thoughts I couldn't put words to.
Thank YOU.
And while we're winding down, let's have a look at some of Casey's facebook posts for fun. I thought this one stood out:

Yikes!
Dr. Tim was on the stand all day, and the only thing I took from it was him admitting that there was still an odor in the car 2 years after the trash was removed. Forget pigs in a blanket, stains on a carpet, he admitted that there was still a smell in that car 2 years later.
I also LOVED when Ashton took the garbage out and made him own it. There was NO food in that bag!
Ditto! And Ashton was awesome.
There was a dead body in Casey's car and no one will ever get me to change my mind about that fact.
Agreed.
Yes, and Casey knew there had been a dead body in the car, tried to cover up the smell with garbage, and tried to ditch the car when the smell wouldn't go away.
We keep coming back to the question that if it was an accident, what was the duct tape for?
Agreed.
That Sonny Holstin on HLN annoys me. I can't explain it. Her personality irks me!
Me too. She's mellowed out a bit since the beginning of the trial. In the beginning, she tried to play devil's advocate, which is fine, but in a mocking gleeful way. Now, she seems a bit more serious with her opinions, so she's grown on me slightly. My fave is Casey Jordan. I like her on Facebook...she actually comes back and comments to people sometimes.
With all the lakes and retention ponds around here, I am shocked that George didn't dump that car in one as soon as he smelled decomposition. I am also surprised that Casey didn't take that route. She could have said the car broke down and when she went back for it, it was gone. It would likely have taken months for them to find the right lake where it was dumped and all signs of decomposition would be gone.
Were you the one I was discussing this with before?? Three local RI/MA went missing in Florida years ago, and were found in a lake in Celebration? That's when I learned how common it is to have cars sitting at the bottom of lakes in Florida.
I was just reading something about KC texting today?!?! For anyone rewatching the trial can you keep an eye out for that. They said she has the phone in the binder.
Just got news that I will be with you guys on Tuesday

My surgery has been postponed because the anesthesiologist wants me to see a cardiologist for all new testing prior to surgery to make sure I can make it thru.
Stinks because I've waited years for this surgery and have been nervously anticipating it. For it to be squashed just days before it happens has me upset.
Maybe Casey and Baez text each other, since it appears he was texting today too (per Ashton). And I'll be all sorts of polite and respectful and unbiased here and say that maybe that's just the way things are done between an attorney and the client these days, with technology being what it is.
I am SO sorry about the surgery delay! I'll bet you're upset.

Well, we'll definitely be here on Tuesday for you, and throw in some extra hugs and maybe a few chuckles to keep your mind off things.
I really try hard to keep an open mind too, but the ridiculousness of it makes it so hard. I would have been very open to an accident and a panicked mother but when you throw in all the other crap, it is hard for me to keep an open mind.
I agree. With all the drama before the trial of the big defense, I thought just MAYBE there was something we didn't all know that WOULD explain it all? But I'm not buying it.
I am not trying to trivialize any one's opinion. I said I understand where you are coming from. I just see nothing on this thread that ever gives any sort of pass to the defense. Baez is referred to as Bozo. No matter what he says or does, he is stupid. I don't agree with everything he does, but he is trying to do his job. Yet, everything the state does is great. From this, I got the message that, emotionally, people on this thread are so vested in the case against Casey that they will never admit to anything that could point to anything positive presented by the defense.
When I say that I am looking at it from an academic position, I am simply trying to say that I only care about the mechanics of the case. In the end, my opinion on her guilt or innocence means nothing. I am not the one who will be deciding.
Am I interested in the case? Absolutely! I just don't hate anyone over it. Sorry. I realize that it is an unpopular stance. There has not been a single day in the past three years that I haven't had to hear about this case. So, I guess I have been over saturated and just don't care enough to hate anyone.
I will now depart from this thread. While I've been told that other viewpoints are welcome here, when I post something from another viewpoint, I feel like I am very unwelcome. I don't want to rain on any one's parade.
For the record, I do think Casey is guilty.
It's not your viewpoint I have an issue with...it's your approach, which I have explained and my opinion remains.
You certainly are welcome to stay on this thread, but it's your choice, if you don't feel welcome. I've been on the DIS for over 10 years, and there have certainly been threads where I have not felt welcome. I made the choices that felt comfortable for me.
As far as hating Casey, I never said that, because I don't. I specifically stated in another post, in another thread, that I kind of feel sorry for her, and I know I quoted somewhere along the way, below, someone who put into words what I feel. I know that there were people who were quick to jump in and say that they didn't feel that way, there are people who strongly want her to get the death penalty, and those who don't, and gray areas in between. That's fine. No one has to agree with me, altho there are certain people on this thread that I feel a certain bond with because I feel we're on the same page.
About Baez and the defense team. I think I quoted Joviroxx about Baez, and I agree with her. More down post. And I do think that Mason has shown himself to be a condescending SOB. I thought he did a great job with the motion to acquit, but do believe JP was right not to grant it. Simms stroking Casey like a puppy creeps me out and was even an issue for Perry.
Well, the majority of the people on this thread are in favor of the prosecution, and therefor will criticize the opponenet (the defense) more often than not. If you are watching the media coverage of this case you surely have noticed that the majority of the commentators are saying that Baez is making a joke of himself and tripping over his own two feet.
Just because the bulk of this thread are posters who are criticizing and or poking fun at Baez and his team doesn't mean that we as posters are being unwelcoming, flaming or trivializing toward your opinions, we simply don't agree. When you are in a minority opinion it may often feel like you are unwelcome or trivialized, but that simply is not the case. The fact of the matter is that your opinion is outnumbered by those who disagree.
I am actually surprised at how civil and friendly these threads have remained in light of the controversy and media coverage this trial is having.
Agree, on all counts. And I've sat back and looked at these defense lawyers as objectively as I can, and asked myself if I didn't feel so strongly about my belief that Casey is guilty, would I still not like them as strongly? And the answer is a resounding "yes"; they have personalities traits that I do not like. I've watched many other cases of over the years, and have never felt so negatively (once again, for the reasons I've quoted below) for the side I don't agree with as I do this case. Other cases have been ALMOST as emotional (but "smaller" cases), but I've never seen such bumbling before as I've seen in this case.
Is it possible that Baez actually IS a bozo, and the prosecution IS doing great?
Well, that's a nutshell if I've ever seen one!
I guess we are not only watching two different trials but we are also reading two different threads.
I guess so!
OK, this is my opinion and my opinion only. Ive been with the case since pretty much the beginning. I watched about 90% of the pre-trial hearings as well.
To me, Baez IS a bozo. He came into this case and hit the media running. It was his rocket to fame. Ive seen him have motions rejected because they didn't meet legal standards, Ive seen judges constantly have to walk him through things, I saw him almost charged with contempt of court and have to pay a fine because he kept missed court ordered deadlines. He has no business handling this case and the life of this girl.
He makes a mockery of the legal system, so yes, I don't respect him as a lawyer.
I know his job is to do the best for his client and I have no issue with that. He has had his moments but I still believe he is in way over his head. Who stands at the podium, in front of a judge, and texts??????
Regardless, I think these threads have been great and friendly and I don't see anyone being told or jumped on for having any kind of opinion

I had no idea people were feeling unwelcome
Well, you speak for me too, and I think many others. Many of the commentators were saying today...as lawyers themselves...how the texting was just so inappropriate and a mockery of their profession. And in addition to the things listed by joviroxx, there's so much more. Let's not forget Baez needing to be told more than once to quit hugging his client in jail. I mean, really! And, Baez has a pretty skanky background too.
You know FeralPeg, SOMETIMES, just maybe, there's a reason why there's "a crowd", and it's not because people just want to jump on a bandwagon. Just maybe there's a whole lot of reasons to back up being part of that crowd. If you don't agree with the majority, then that's fine. But I do get the feeling that you feel that if one is part of the majority, then one hasn't thought for him/herself.
I dont think she will get the death penalty either. I think the question will be if they charge her with felony murder or aggravated manslaughter but I don't see them finding her guilty of capital murder. (although I think she deserves it.)
I am very PRO death penalty, in that I believe it should exist. I have questioned over my many years (ahem) when and why it is applied. I have not always agreed. But, it's not up to me to agree...it's up to the prosecutors to pursue it, and the jury to recommend it (or not). If it were...no, I don't think she should get the death penalty. I think there are other crimes worse (as much as we've all come to adore Caylee) than this.
That's one of the questions that just has me stumped. I keep thinking that its just Cindy covering but I just can't quite figure if anyone else remembers the name as well.. And it can't really be years, can it? Caylee was only 2 1/2. We just don't know a lot about her life before about Mar 08 when she started meeting all these new people.
I'm pretty sure Cindy had said she had first heard about Zanny the Nanny about a year and a half before Caylee's death.
I was out all day so I'm still working my way through all the posts but I couldn't let this particular comment pass without a reply. I personally don't hate Casey. It may be difficult to believe but it's the God's honest truth.
Probably what I most feel towards her is pity.
My pity towards her, it's hard to explain. But I do believe, however messed up our current justice system is, and I do believe it's messed up, if found guilty by a jury of peers, she needs to do her time.
However, I feel the most sorrow for Caylee. She didn't deserve to be dumped like trash.
I've had strangely maternal feelings towards Casey at times.

I guess partly because I just want to understand what happened and why...like if I could, I'd reach out to her, like I reach out to my own children and say "talk to me." And on the other hand, I do NOT want her to get away with the murder I feel she committed.
No one--including maryann, wants or expects anyone to leave the thread.
Isn't that odd? With the technology we have today, you would think people would be on Facebook or Twitter talking about knowing Casey "back in the day." This is where those people that crave their 15 minutes of fame tend to come out of the woodwork but they haven't in this case.
They're probably afraid they'll get dragged into it somehow, and get vilified, esp if they ARE looking for their 15 minutes; I'm guessing it would backfire on them. I do wonder about that old friend of Casey's and the pet cemetery, and selling her story to a rag...I bet if she could have been recognized as a reliable witness, she'd offer some interesting insight into who Casey was/is. Or could she?? Can anyone? Does ANYONE know the "real" Casey? I can only imagine what her parents run through their minds...over and over and over again.
Had to share this tweet from "Judge Perry"
My lingerie party for the jury was a hit. Everyone seemed to love my one-piece ensemble
I always giggle to myself when he asks the jury about their evenings or lunch, or special delivery like he did today.
He seems so please by himself that he is able to do something neat for them, he seems to genuinely have fun and enjoy his job.

Awesome tweet. And I so agree with your last line!
However the additional stuff is rather weird and suspect if you ask me. When does a customer for a BASIC (I.e. Not a Kat Von D creation) tattoo throw a pizza party? Weird and abnormal!
I got the impression, perhaps from prosecutions questioning the tattoo guy (who, BTW, I feel sorry for since so many people, including me, don't seem to like his work!) that it was party-ish atmosphere, with Casey footing the bill for the pizza.
I keep thinking of that movie, The Usual Suspects. Casey really reminds me of the character that Kevin Spacey played in that movie. If you've see that movie near the end when the police finally start putting it together, you'll know exactly what I mean.
On a different topic, I just LOVE Judge Perry. He is such a hoot. He has now moved onto my list of "People I'd Like to Eat Dinner With."
I have got to see that movie! But I don't think I can take a crime movie right now.

And if I could pick a dinner guest right now, it would be Judge Perry. Or Mr George. He doesn't scare me like Linda Drane Burdick and Jeff Ashton. (Yup, I admit it...I like the prosecutors better than the defense.)
These stories just break my heart.

I remember a few years ago, a story about a mother backing over one of her twins.

I have NEVER backed up without a certain fear after that...of just not knowing if there's someone/something behind me.
Crap, I hate long over-quoted posts.
