Even more interesting is this audio LE interview is not the same as the written transcript?????? Written transcript is dated 08/21/08 and took place in Shirley's home.

OK, I'm officially confused.

Different interviews? :confused3 Don't know anything about Shirley's interviews...just found that on Youtube.
I wouldn't call this a police interview, Casey mentions the helicopter following them and the media vans etc following her from her attorney's office. The detective mentions that she already invoked her rights and is about to contact her attorney so this is a recorded room where she is being held and the detective (at least in the 1st part that I watched) never asks her a question.
:confused3 Dunno.

Maybe? I haven't actually read that so I was wondering. I swear I heard it mentioned that he was only a homicide detective for 6 years. Did he just retire from the job? Had he worked for the police department for years before that? It seems like he had multiple jobs in 2008 but maybe I misunderstood.

You are right. His job history since moving to Florida hasn't been very stable.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but did anyone see Geraldo saying there may be cause for miss-trial (sp)because Casey wasn't read her rights before she began talking?

That hearing was held and Judge Perry ruled everything was done correctly. Geraldo has always been very pro-defense, or rather, very much claiming that this case is politically driven and isn't a death penalty case. He, at least for a while (not sure about now), has been very chummy with Baez. I don't take him very seriously.
I also didn't know he & Cindy separated for 8 mos. shortly after Caylee was born. He'd run up some major $$$ on online gambling. They ended up back together and I get the impression he was pretty much 'whipped after that.
Yeah, he fell for one of those Nigerian schemes. :confused3
If it hasn't been posted here yet, a poster on WS says there's a news report on local news that Lee now wants to sit in the courtroom during the trial and his attorney is going to file a motion regarding that. :confused3

(I checked WESH but no links yet. Remember they said there was going to be a motion first thing Tuesday morning, wonder if this is it?)

I read about that. But I think the Lee's attorney is different than his parents attorney. He is the first on that got an attorney and also the first one that stopped talking to the press.

His timeline in his opening statement:

"Early morning hours the exact time is not known...it could have been early afternoon...early morning...actually it was the early morning hours. "

:rolleyes1

How nice to argue facts that are so clear:confused3::rolleyes:

Ok, there are transcripts and evidence for two different cases. Zenaida F Gonzalez filed a civil suit against Casey. You will find many depos with the Anthony family that have to do with that case. I know its confusing !

Oh wait, you are talking about Shirley. You see, so much stuff out there it IS confusing LOL!

This trial is turning into the circus of the century.

What upsets me is they know the little girl died, they have her remains.

Casey has proven over and over again with her words and actions that she cannot be believed. Why can't someone rule her crazy and not waste everyone's time with this trial?

TC :cool1:

Why can't someone rule her crazy and not waste everyone's time with this trial?

Because if she did kill her, she needs to be punished. I do believe that she's crazy but not legally insane, if she killed this little girl, I don't want her relaxing in a psychiatric hospital for 10 years then be released.

She's definitely a chronic liar, but not crazy in legal terms. Yes, they've known that Caylee was dead since December 2008, but Casey only came out with this "oh, it was an accident" story now. The trial needs to happen to determine what happened and what the appropriate punishment should be. I agree, if Casey had opted to plead guilty and accept LWOP, we could have saved a lot of time and money. But I think part of Casey's personality is that she loves attention, and she's enjoying dressing up for court each day, hanging out with her lawyer buddies, knowing that millions are watching her, etc. I think she also believes she has a good chance of going free, since she's successfully lied her way out of so many situations in the past.

Ding ding ding! And we have a winner!

Did you see my post after that? It appears the diary wasn't even produced or available for sale until 2004. :confused3

I missed that! Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Well, that certainly muddies up the water a little more, doesn't it?

I remember in the very beginning when they were talking about Zanny the nanny. Did Cindy and George believe that there was actually a nanny? How could Casey possibly have had enough money to pay for a nanny. I also thought that I had heard that Cindy and George had never met the so-called nanny???:confused3

I always just figured that Zanny the nanny was just something that Casey made-up, amongst all of her other lies.

Supposedly, she was working for Universal in an events planning job. She actually took LE onsite and to the office before finally being forced to admit that she didn't work there. I think Cindy and George forced themselves to believe the job, the nanny, and the story about Caylee being abducted. It was easier than believing that their daughter murdered her child (although I do think that George was suspicious and thought there had probably been an accidental death). :(

Also there's no Juliette Lewis (and no baby Annabelle).

Don't you wonder how she kept all these non-existant people straight? I think she made Juliette, Annabelle, Jeffrey, and Zach up to make her parents think she was hanging out with other people with children for playdates and just being a great mother all the way around. And, of course, to provide excuses for where she was and what she was doing. :headache:

Well, that certainly clears things up. I guess he has to first make sure he actually knows for a fact when George was there.

I suspect that's the case.

She's definitely a chronic liar, but not crazy in legal terms.

The person that I've referenced in past posts is definitely a chronic liar and manipulator, but they aren't crazy. Sadly, there are people who are totally self-focused and lack a conscience. I've been known to think to myself that the person is crazy, but they really aren't. They're just bad. Sadly, people can do terrible things and be dangerous without being what we consider to be mentally unstable.

If you all have about an hour to kill or just want to listen to something in the background, i found this interesting...

Its the one from May 29. A websleuth lawyer Richard Hornsby's take on everything so far.

Yes, indeedy.

No one should kid themselves. Instead of visions of sugarplums, what's dancing in Casey's head right now are visions of an acquittal, book deals, heartfelt interviews with many closeups, (oops, she missed her Oprah window, but Barbara Walters is still available) People magazine features and covers, a major motion picture of her life and if all goes well, hanging out with the Kardashians and Paris Hilton. Her most beloved fantasies come to life!

The thing about most pathological liars.....and once I think about the difference, she's pathological, not compulsive....is that like sociopaths, they very often believe one or both of the following things. (It's hard to separate the chicken and egg-ness of it all.)

1. They are smarter than just about everyone else and can easily pull the wool over anyone's eyes, even the police.

2. Everyone else is dumber than them and just so easy to dupe.

I believe this is true of Casey. Almost anyone else would have seen the jig was up on numerous occasions, but nooooooo.....She just keeps the lie going, confident that if she sticks with it, she can make it work. Taking the police to Universal was the perfect example of this.

Since sociopaths are frequently pathological liars and I've long been under the impression she's also a sociopath, very little she does surprises me. The scary thing is, most jurors will judge a defendant's behavior by comparing them to normal humans and not to sociopaths. If you're a sociopathic defendant, that puts you at a HUGE advantage over naive jurors who don't have a clue what a sociopath is all about. Nothing she's done is out of line with what a sociopath would do and in fact, is perfectly "normal" for what a sociopath would do.

well out of all that at least 1 will happen.

at some point someone will make a movie out of what happened.

One more thing. Casey has accused (via Baez) her father and brother of the most heinous of offenses. There is absolutely no way those two can DISPROVE her allegations of sexual abuse. They can swear it is not true, but it's her lying word against theirs. This will follow them around forever. Even if Casey is convicted, years from now when Lee marries and has kids, some parents will never let their kids go over to his house, etc.

If I were her parents and had been on the fence about trying to help her avoid the death penalty, I'd definitely turn my back on her now. Accusing her dad of sexual abuse was bad enough, but she has ruined her brother's reputation and he can do nothing about it. Essentially, she has made her parents choose between her and Lee. I know which one I'd go with....the one who did not kill my grandchild.

I just listened and Hornsby brought up some interesting points such as the defense claims of drowning and testing the bones, Lee is the wildcard because he was the first one to lawyer up and first one to shut up, if Casey takes the stand she will testify her way to the death penalty. He believes she should be found guilty of aggravated neglect, aggravated manslaughter, but because of the defense it may come back and bite them because the jury could despise her so much due to Jose Baez's claims in opening statements.

And it will remain hearsay and not evidence unless Casey testifies. The defense will try and get it in as evidence through supposed statements Casey made to other people but it will not be allowed. If Baez wants the jury to be able to use this as evidence only Casey will be able to and it will have to be done through her testimony. Then, she will either give the performance of a lifetime or the State will have a field day with her!

You can't unring a bell. The jury has heard the allegations of sexual abuse. Even if the judge instructs them to ignore the allegations made during opening statements, I have no faith they will all be able to erase what they heard from their heads and truly deliberate as if they never heard it. It will be the elephant in the room and I am afraid at least one juror will be swayed by it.

New poll, open for 1 week.

MaryAnn, Baez cannot possibly allow her to testify even if she wanted to, she will get FRIED alive. And all she will do is CRY CRY CRY to gain sympathy from the jury. And haven't we/they seen enough of that already, ugh. :headache:

i think she will take the stand.

it worked for OJ didn't it

I think she will as well. This girl is an expert liar and is the most comfortable when sharing her many stories...
She'll have her Kleenex all ready to go.

I think Baez is convinced that she's so good at BSing that she can carry it off. Either way, it will be interesting to see the poll results.

And I think Baez fancies himself a Johnny Cochrane type...it would be Baez's big moment, have everyone watching and everyone talking. And I think that with all the other testimony coming out, unless there's another big moment, outside of opening statements, to make the sexual abuse allegations stand out, they have to put her on the stand...they need to show the trauma and drama, front and center. And under great pressure...interrogations from police, 31 days of telling her friends and family (as well as from jail)...she spun her tales without batting an eye.

I voted "Yes".

George worked as a police officer for 10 yrs. He says Cindy was worried about him working as a cop after they had children. He quit to work for his dad's used car/van conversion dealership with the understanding that George would take over the business when his dad retired.

Here's where it gets shifty: there appeared to be a "falling out" between the two and George's dad sold the dealership & retired. (There's some kinda weird stuff about his throwing his dad through a plate glass window per Cindy's brother & mother).:confused3

George opened his own used car lot. Failed after two yrs. (I think) and since they 2nd mortaged their house, they lost it. Decided to move to FL. Cindy still didn't want him in LE, so he ended up with all sorts of odd jobs, mainly revolving around security. Oh, he did a short stint for a termite company, fell in a hole, tore up his knee and was on disability for a year or two.

I also didn't know he & Cindy separated for 8 mos. shortly after Caylee was born. He'd run up some major $$$ on online gambling. They ended up back together and I get the impression he was pretty much 'whipped after that.

If memory serves, there was a point where George was not working. He started seeing a woman he met after Caylee disappeared. She was giving him money so that Cindy would think he was working.

I'm not impressed with George. It seems the apple doesn't fall that far from the tree.
