Casey Anthony in a Teen's Mind?

I for one do know how the legal system works in this case, but I'm not sure if anyone else besides you does too. To tell you the truth, many cases are circumstantial, you cant find HARD evidence in every case, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. If you found a body, with (sorry to be graphic), a knife plunged into it's back, and saw a man run away from the scene, but the knife didn't have his DNA on it, is it circumstantial that he just happened to be running away at that exact moment? Also, you have to prove it beyond a REASONABLE doubt, not ALL doubt. Saying she didn't kill her child beyond a reasonable doubt is just well, I really can't see who else could have killed her if even the parents say she never drowned. The jury also focused their attention on the opening statements. I think they actually believed the opening statement was considered evidence. I don't think anyone explained this to them. I feel the state should have taken a different approach, perhaps manslaughter? Aggravated manslaughter? And on your point of cruel and unusual punishment, if she was cruel like that to the child, how is doing it to her considered cruel and unusual punishment? I've always wondered that, but I'm sure people take many different stances on this.

@CharlieBrown

Actually, the head prosecutor was Jeff Ashton, who is an amazing prosecutor, the problem was the jurors. They seem to be the only people in the world who believe she's innocent. HOWEVER the judge said before they deliberated, "It doesn't matter if you think she killed the child IN A DIFFERENT MANNER, you have to base it off of the PROSECUTIONS theory." So if the jurors thought yeah she killed her but I think she did it THIS WAY, they couldn't charge her because those weren't the court's rules. I'm angry that the jury only took 10 hours to deliberate over the death of a CHILD. It makes me sick.

I don't know if that facepalm is directed at me or the jury
However now that I look back at some of Ashton's statements I'm starting to think he took the wrong route in some places, such as saying Roy Kronk is a liar. WHY WOULD YOU TELL THE JURY THAT???

I followed this trial everyday and that the prosecution did a decent job with what they had, they just didnt have enough, their entire case based itself on the 30 some odd days that she didnt report her daughter missing, they had no good motive (until ashtons closing arguement where it was to little to late) no murder weapon (they couldnt decide between duct tape and chloroform) no proof that casey anthony made or bought choloroform and no direct evidence linking casey to the bodys location, there case was entirely circumstantial evidence, baez was a pretty good attorney, his closing was more personnal and he brought out good points on how everything that points to casey also points to george, it was well argued either way but in the end the prosecution dropped the ball on what should have been a slam dunk case.

I'll agree with you on the motive, they should have brought that up sooner, maybe even as their opening to counter Baez's opening.

I think she should be in jail for life.Even the thought of her being free makes me SICK!I absolutely disagree with the jury's verdict.

Personally, I don't know if she is guilty or not. There is NO SOLID evidence. i applaud the jury for there hard decision. Was it the right choice? I cannot say. Yes there should have been some justice for Caylee. But, it shows that the legal system does work.

Yeah I agree with what some above have said, the evidence just isn't there to convict her. It doesn't mean that she didn't do it necessarily, it just means that the prosecution should try harder next time

Here's the catch to all of this: The Double Jeopardy rule.

For those of you that don't know the Double Jeopardy law is a law that states that if a person is convicted of murder, they can't be convicted again of that specific charge again. So, Casey Anthony could come out tomorrow and say she killed Caylee and not have to go back to court or anything.

People were saying this is what O.J. Simpson was going to do on a talk show a while back.

There was also a movie titled "Double Jeopardy". The film has a story related to murder case kind of like this one.

UGH! This irks me soooo much! It's just like O.J. Simpso. Everything points to her! She only got 4 years of prison for lying yet shes already served over 3 years! Grrr... When she is let free, she is likely to get herself killed.

My imaginary jury agrees!

My mom explained that to me and I almost threw up from anxiety. I just can't believe that even if she confesses they cant do anything about it.

I think she should've been guilty, but I don't think the jury are idiots- they had to have SOME reason that they all agreed she wasn't guilty. I didn't really follow the case, but isn't she going to jail for a few years?

Nope. She served 3 years in jail when she was suspected of murder, so it's time served, and counts towards the lying to police. She gets out free on July 17th.

Well for now I guess she is technically in jail, but they're keeping her there for now just to let everyone's emotions boil down, because they were concerned for the safety of Casey and the public, because they were afraid that people would start riots.

I think that Casey Anthony may not be innocent, but that the verdict was fair. There was not enough evidence to prove that she did it... there was room for questioning, room for doubt. And you can't put someone to death when there is doubt. Personally, I think that there are so many possibilities and too many holes, that I'm not even sure Casey did it. I'm not saying she's innocent, but there is certainly room for questioning. But the response to her acquittal has astonished me. All of the horrible things people say and the death threats just proves to me that the media has such a strong control over our society. What we are overlooking is just because the media makes someone guilty, doesn't mean they actually are. I don't think there is enough information for anyone to judge her, since no one, especially not us at home, actually knows what happens, except for possibly Casey and her family.

I think honestly that casey anthony killed her kid.and to think that "woman" will be set free sunday.Maybe people will believe she did it when she does it again. But either way...she has to live with it the rest of her life. And one day she'll have to answer for what she does.I hope that each day she suffers from it.I'd hate to be her. There's some crazy people out there.

R.I.P. Caylee Anthony:littleangel:

Have any of you guys been watching the Casey Anthony trial? They found her not guilty and I feel sick to my stomach thinking of that woman walking free. What do you think of all this???

When they found her not guilty of the main things she was accused for, I felt {and still do feel} the exact same way. She killed her daughter, no doubt about it. It KILLS me to see her walking around, like nothing happened, knowing that she got away with murder. Ugh. I can't even..
