I'm planning a trip very last minute. I just looked at the menu for Carthay and it looks amazing but no reservations are available Mon night next week... and we're a group of 5. Has anyone had luck getting in to eat dinner at Carthay with this many people when reservations weren't available?

I've tried walking up with a party of three on an evening when I couldn't get a reservation and was told they were fully booked. It probably depends on whether there are any no shows or not, so it's worth checking, but have a back-up plan in case they are not accepting walk-ups.

I would also keep checking for a reservation online. Because of the credit card guarantee openings to come up, even last minute.

Makes sense, worth a shot with that menu but I'll pick a back up!
Just keep in mind that if you make a back-up reservation somewhere else, you have to cancel it before the deadline otherwise you'll be charged the "no show" fee ($10 per person on the reservation). The cancellation policy is a little vague (day before), but it usually means at some point on the day before - so in your case Sunday. I asked if it was anytime the day before or 24-hours before the reservation time and I've been told "yes" to both by different CMs (Disneyland.com used to specifically say 11:59 pm, but that information was removed from the website, so at this point, it's not entirely clear).

If you do go, DON"T try the grilled chicken scaloppini. My wife had it and let me try it. We both agreed it was the worst dish we've ever tasted anywhere.

Another fine dining option without reservations is the Napa Rose lounge. Reservations are not accepted, and the full restaurant menu is available.

In addition to contuing to check online, try calling the Dine Line the day before your visit. If a cancellation is available in the computer system, a lead can manually give it to you. This is what I was told when trying to make a reservation for BTRBBQ.

+1 for the NR Lounge. It is one of our favorite restaurants on site. Service and food are great. (Just be aware that there is no AP discount for NR.)

Definitely try the lounge if you can't get in for dinner. Even with a reservation it took 25 minutes to be seated and this was during early November- lower season.

As for food, the best thing we had the entire trip was the kids filet dinner. Amazing petite filet of beef, Mac and cheese croquettes, and perfectly steamed broccoli. My daughter ordered it and we had a bite- topped our food for sure ( and ours was tasty!) Next time we are ordering THAT and splitting the double portion we'll receive for ordering off the kids menu. It was so good.
