My biggest question is still what is going to be in that theater? They already have the Hyperion Theater. So it it actually going to be a theater? I may have missed this info somewhere, but I have looked and never found an answer/

It will be a multipurpose dining location. There are few confirmed details on how it will work but a lot of rumors.

At the very end when it zooms back look at the vertical support of the monorail. That support was at the edge of the former buildings.

The restaurant and the attached lounge will be open to all, but the second lounge (with a secret entrance) will be members only. I just talked to her about it this week and she said work is going along well and is on target for a May 2012 opening. She also gushed about how gorgeous it is and sketched a bit of the layout for me.

As Members enter through the private entry to the Carthay Circle Club they will find themselves in The Animators Lounge, where Walt and the Disney animators would have come to relax and swap stories. You can practically hear the animators delivering their latest story pitch. In the lounge you enjoy music as you sip a cocktail created from a unique menu of specialty cocktails created just for Club Members while your table is being prepared upstairs.



Upstairs in the Carthay Circle Club members enjoy a contemporary open floor plan where architectural details blend wrought iron, thick stucco walls, and Spanish tile with clean lines, translucent panels and atmospheric lighting to create a warm and comfortable ambiance paying homage to the rich history of California. Take a seat in a comfortable booth where on one side you can see into the open show kitchen where talented chefs prepare your meal, while on the other vista you can gaze out through tall windows towards the terraces and sky. In the center of the dining room sits the Tower Room featuring a crafted arched ceiling encircled by photos and historical artifacts from Walt’s earliest accomplishments as a young animator.



As you gaze out at the new Buena Vista Street and watch Guests entering Disney’s California Adventure you contemplate what Club Member benefit you’ll enjoy next. Maybe you’ll take advantage of preferred viewing for Disney’s new World of Color show or the parade. Maybe you and your Guests will enjoy admission to all other rides and attractions at Disney’s California Adventure theme park as part of your Club Carthay Circle benefits. As you head downstairs, you stop in the lounge to enjoy a dessert while you make a decision.

People have for a long time known about this survey. It doesn't confirm or deny that anything will happen like this. It just fed rumors.

Like as mentioned before the latest news from Disney is that they aren't sure it will be a club or open format in part of the building. Which just fed more rumors.

Rumors like these are always interesting. I suppose a special club would make sense but I wonder how many people would buy into it. Oh forget it, probably tons

I was fortunate to be able to see the Buena Vista Street and Cars Land presentations at the D23 Expo. Well, if you count waiting in line for 2-3 hours for each one fortunate!

Until then I harbored some doubts about both these initiatives. After those presentations all my doubts were gone. Both efforts are very well thought out and quintessential Disney. I am sure they are the right thing to do.

However...

I find the Carthay Circle Theater odd. It was clear even at the Expo they were not quite sure what to do with it. In case some of you have not yet grasped it yet, the CCT is designed to be to DCA what Sleeping Beauty's Castle is at DL - the park icon.

It was clear that there is going to be food served there - and alcohol of some kind. It was clear there was going to be some kind lounge there to relax. They also talked about the CCT balcony facing the DCA entrance and how one could watch the DL fireworks from there.

I have not heard anyone else use this term, but the imagineers kept referring to the "hub" area (the old "Sunshine Plaza" ) as "Carthay Circle".

I guess the unsettled feeling I got about CCT reflects Disney's indecisiveness with what to do with CCT. It just stands out because with everything else about BVS and CL they are extremely decisive.

Good to know all this info. I sure hadnt' seen anywhere talk about dining in there. It does seem odd if they want this to be the park icon for it to be a dining location. Although I guess you eat in Cinderella Castle in MK. And just walk through (both over the drawbridge and the attraction) Sleeping Beauty Castle.

I just hope it is amazing and magical looking. That park needs some real Disney charm in the new hub, (agree with you Hydroguy on Sunshine plaza).

They had the Soap Opera Bistro, but that didn't do so good. I ate there once and thought the food was pretty good! I don't watch soap operas though.

A private club would be a gamble. If it is done with only an annual fee, the club could be closed after a year. If there is a high initiation fee, the club would need to stay open...

Perhaps the CCT will have something in it like the Hollywood Brown Derby? Though I would like whatever we get to be a unique experience.

There was a plan to make a drive in dining experience in Carsland but it was cut from the construction plans. It would of been great and very similiar to Sci-Fi Dine in Theater in DHS. I think having that cut may speak about the volume of TS that DCA projects.

I do believe they scrapped initial plans for a theater. There was no talk of a theater at the Expo.
