Cart was rolling away from a lady at costco.....

I don't want to get involved with this.

How dangerous. :thumbsup2 to you for being caring. I don't understand how some people could care less about those types of situations.

That was good (and quick) thinking on your part. Hopefully some other kind soul will return the favor to you in the future.

That just blows me away that others just stood there and watched the cart roll onto the street with a child in it. :confused3 what a sick world we live in. :sad2:

Wow, it's such a good thing you were nearby! I don't even want to think of what the outcome could have been. :guilty:

Perhaps in the past one of them have grabbed a child running towards the street, only to be accused of being a kidnapper, molester, etc by the parent? :confused3 It's a strange world out there; I've gotten a dirty look from a mother for smiling at her baby in a check-out line. :sad2:

Good for you for acting! Why in the world did that mother have her back turned to the cart? Yikes!

I bet if the cart had of been rolling towards their car someone would have acted... but that's another thread, isn't it? ;)

It was so good of you to rescue the baby in the runaway cart. That is so terrifying. My DD has always said grocery carts should have hand brakes on them like strollers have.

Good lord, what on earth is wrong with people to let a baby in a cart just roll off when they were righ there to help? :sad2:

I am glad you was there to help. :thumbsup2 Sometimes people talk themselves out of helping for fear they'll get sued or yelled at and lets face it, some people just don't care as long as it doesn't involve them. :sad2:

It's hard to imagine that we live in a 'don't get involved' society', but evidence such as this suggests we do. So sad. I think this was illustrated last week or the week before on the Today Show where they showed a gentleman pulling a child towards him (they were acting out a scenario to see how people would respond) and the kid was yelling "leave me alone - you're not my dad". The child kept yelling loudly. So many people just walked on by. Some stared a bit, but just shook their head and kept walking. It wasn't until three young guys, late teens or early twenties, all noticed and did something about it. They sort of spread out and started to approach this guy ready to take him down. Of course the guy shouted that he was part of the Today Show and all the camera crew came out of hiding to support him.

The 3 young guys had no inhibition (typical for young adults) about taking on this guy. They went with their gut and instinct - they didn't even say a word, they just looked at each other and knew that this was not right. I think sometimes we hear our instincts telling us one thing, but don't act on them for fear of what if we did the wrong thing.

You remind me of the angel in the movie The Bishop's Wife. In the opening scene he stops a baby carriage that was heading toward traffic. I guess that makes you an angel for the day! :thanks:

just want to say..the world needs more people like you! :thumbsup2 :sunny:
