Was wondering if anyone knows if you need carseat on airplane for 2
year old. Or if the rentals mini vans have them built in, otherwise I would
need to bring mine. What does everyone else do?

Along with that question, can anyone help me figure out what to do for a 4-year-old nephew on our trip the end of October? He is currently about 35 pounds and in a tall booster-type car seat which is not FAA approved. Our idea is that he would have a booster on the plane that he could also use in the rental car. What is the Florida law on car restraints for that age and weight?? If they have to buy one just for this trip, they would like it to be small and easy to use. Thanks for any help you can give me. :)

I don't know about the airlines but in the past we rented car seats and booster seats with our rental car directly through the agency (National, Alamo, etc.) I think I paid $15 for the week per seat in addition to the car rate but that was several years ago. For us it was worth it not to have to bring ours with us. If you don't need it for the flight check with the rental car agency to see if it's an option.

Normally the airlines don't allow a boster onboard. We were just in Orlando and checked ours with our luggage and used it in the rental car. Florida law might not require one but if you use one at home wouldn't you want to use one everywhere? Our feeling is that an accident in Florida would be the same as an accident anywhere else and having our daughter safely secured in her booster is an added level of protection we can give her.
