what do people do when you have 2 cars seats for kids when you are on the ship? does disney provide storage for them or do you have to keep them in your cabin (along with strollers?!)?:Pinkbounc

I believe you keep everything with you. We drove so we left the car seats in the car and the stroller stayed inthe cabin with us.

DCL will *sometimes* be able to store things, although it's been posted that since the outbreak of the Norwalk virus they have been reluctant at best, and generally will not store anything for you. I wouldn't count on that.

Some cruisers have said they stored them on the verandah, I'd bring a couple large plastic bags if you think you might want to do this, as they could get soaked if it rains.

You didn't mention if these were infant car seats, or full-size car seats....if they are the full-size type, there is a "travel" car seat available by Costco. It is flat and fits into a suitcase. We brought it for our son on our last cruise. That might be a good option for you since you need two of them. (that reminds me of the family with twins that I saw at the Orlando airport back in December--I told them about the seats and they were thanking me profusely--especially the father who was carrying those two car seats!) The travel car seats work great for this--

I have been wondering this exact same thing and trying to figure out if I will have the littlest one NOT be in his carseat on the plane--don't like that idea at all! HOwever, the only time we will need it is on the plane and then to lug it around--Ugh!

SueEllen--are those travel carseats the type with the straps/harness built in or are they the booster style ones?

I am not a fan of those at all. And, they won't help you on the plane. My 4 year old DD (only weighs 33 pounds) is still in a harnessed booster and I take it on the plane. I have travelled with 2 seats before and the best advice is to get luggage wheels and hook them together.

Now, since I only need 1 seat, I put the seat on the wheels, use a bungy cord to attach and DD sits in it and she gets pulled along! No need for a stroller! You should see the looks we get.

Anyway, I have just put the seats in the closet. Not great, but I wouldn't compromise the safety of travel by not having the seat I am used to.

Good luck, but take the seat.

ReadyForDisney--Thanks for your feedback. We'll be needing a harness seat for sure at that point. May I ask if you have done the Land/Sea tour? And if so, did it work out transferring the carseat with your luggage or what? That is the part I am most concerned about. I really believe in having my kids in carseats on the plane, but can't figure out what to do with the darn thing!

ReadyForDisney2003--Loved that mental picture LOL!

I must admit, I took the DCL transfer bus and put her on without her carseat. They do not allow a car seat in the bus. Something about no seat belts on the bus to attach the carseat. How safe can that be? Go figure.

Anyway, EVERYONE tells me how safe those busses, but frankly, I was scared to death each time the driver made a turn. I hated it that DD was not in a carseat. And it made me even madder when I *knew* the carseat was under the bus in the luggage storage. I will NEVER do that again.

This trip I plan on renting a car and driving myself to port. If you use a limo service, you can still put your carseat in the limo. Maybe you should check on the pricing for the limo instead of using the disney transfers.

ducklite: Yes, ONE time I forgot the luggage wheels for the carseat and man, oh man did I really miss them. I'll never do that again. And, to complete the picture, she sits in the seat indian-style with her legs crossed. Very cute and funny.
