I only discovered the Rumors board a few days ago (and I am hooked since I am very opinionated when it comes to Disney), and I have read a couple of allusions to changing cars. I can guess what is going on just from the context of those posts, but I was wondering if someone could explain it in detail so that I can car-hop, so to speak.

Thanks!

Thank you! I voted for car 2. Perhaps that post should be bumped more often. There are always new people!

Landbaron Nothing explains our warped minds. You know what, I know a number of other Bulliten boards that have an Archive feature. Maybe we should petition for that here. I know I would like access to some older threads and now that its gone, I miss the ability to go back to the old boards back to the good old days of 1999 when I was fresh faced and worry free. (You Should see the worry lines you've given me Landbaron. :))

Yes Peter. No doubt you are. But with your blinders attached so firmly, how can you possibly see where you’re going!! ;)

I get my boxer shorts at K-Mart...I'm an excellent driver...
  :bounce:

Okay, As I alluded to in my new Reflections topic, I have a little story to tell about why Muppet Treasure Island is running through my head today, and I think it belongs here, because it involves a potential major carhop.
So anyway, I'm a cheap guy and whenever I can I shoot over to my parnets house to do my Laundry, because lets face it laundry can get expensive. So Anyway, I usually like to watch a movie while doing this and last night it was muppet treasure Island. Now I love this movie. Tim Curry is wonderful. The Music catchy. The reason I bring it up, is because when I first put the movie in, I got a preview for James and the Giant Peach. Another excellent Disney Film And right before the Jim Henson Logo, they did the standard Disney Studios Castle Scroll with the little bit of When you wish upon a star. When that happened, my heart broke. I sat there, staring at the screen thinking, What is happening, that little music used to make me the happiest guy in the world, now I''m sad and upset. I was even more upset when I realized that it wasn't Disney's actions or in-actions that caused this directly, it was my knowledge of them. I want My blissful ignorance BACK!

I want to be singing in my head "ONE MORE TIME NOW! Shiver my timbers shiver my Bones, yo ho heave ho" and NOT be upset but just happy.

Of course, I've already eaten of the tree of knowledge and am doomed, but its enough to make you get in Car 4 and drive it off a cliff. (figurativly speaking of course)

...about the original Which Car? thread; the last time I looked, there was one lone occupant in Car 4, the one car that had completely given up and was actually driving with WDW in its rear-view.

Hey, my butt's planted in Car 3 about as firmly as possible (at my age, it's always good to be able to use "my butt" and a form of the word "firm" in the same sentence), but there's another window currently open on my PC with the evolving itinerary for my December trip to WDW (once a couple more things get nailed down, I'm going to try to pull together another mini-meet that week. If things go absolutely perfectly, said meet could occur, at least in part, on an IllumiNations cruise...).

If he's proven nothing else beyond a shadow of a doubt, DVC has shown us that you can both backstroke in the Magic while in the 407 area code, and point out bothersome Disney Company facts with disgust while sitting elsewhere.

Incidentally, "Circle of Life" is the one that really grabs me by the lungs.

Jeff

Well YoHo, I think I've said it before to you, but I'll say it again - "Welcome to my nightmare!!"
I want My blissful ignorance BACK!
So do I!!! But I'm afraid the vacation gods have seen fit to enlighten us and we now have to play the hand that we were dealt. But your wrong about the next bit:
I was even more upset when I realized that it wasn't Disney's actions or in-actions that caused this directly, it was my knowledge of them.
I don't mean to minimize your point. I do know what you mean. But I think you're looking at it the wrong way. Let's do a little Disney time line (A Carousel of Disney Progress, if you will) and see what you think of it. You also must assume that the internet (or some other communication device) has been available since 1955 or a little before.

1955
On the DIS everyone is simply buzzing about Disneyland!!! Walt is CRAZY!!! The latest rumor is that Disneyland won't be in business in another three months. The guy spends TOO MUCH MONEY!!!! But WOW!! Can he make magic!! These sure are exciting times!!

1965
Florida!!!! What's are they thinking!! I thought Walt always said that there'd never be another Disneyland?? And just what the hell is an EPCOT?!?!? Do they really think someone wants to live in Disneyland? A nice place to visit, but come on!!! But you gotta admit, these sure are exciting times!!

1975
OK, WDW has been opened for 4 years now. What about the five year plan? What about the Venetian, Asian and Persian??? Are we on auto-pilot!? Are we going to ever see a plan for this 'city'? These sure are boring times! But when they do finally do an attraction WOW!!!!! They still know how to do it right.

1985
EPCOT!! What a place!! Can you believe the risk they took building a place like that!? But, what's with all the price hikes??? A guy can't even afford the Poly anymore! But the new guy sure did breathe a little life into the company. And I hear the animation Division is taking off as well. But you gotta admit, these sure are exciting times!!

2001 (Big jump, just like the ride!! ;) )
Walt's 100. What do you think they'll do? I don't know, but it sure will be cheap and it sure will be aimed at making money instead of honoring the man.

See YoHo. It is Disney's fault. They should be doing things right in the first place. Sure, we'd still be second guessing, armchair CEOing and occasionally griping. But we wouldn't be depressed. Our hearts wouldn't be breaking. I could wake up from this nightmare! And I could stop ending all my posts with: How sad. :(

Jeff,
I can't think of the name of it right now, and Disney records does so many, but they have a set of I think 5-6 now CDs with just about every major tune from every movie from Snow white to the Lion King to James and the Giant Peach.

I LOVE THESE CDs. I could sit there listening to all that great music and so much of it tuggs at me heart, me Villian, Blighter, Rascal and Knave (Drink Up me Heartys YoHo) that I am. I've already informed m Finacee' that Kiss the girl WILL be played at our Wedding reception. :)

DOH, Lanbaron posted before my post and now my salutation is ambiguous. :)

At any rate, yes, Landbaron, you are correct, it is Disney's fault. I think things are interesting, but not exciting. We are living a Chinese Curse. What's interesting is that even though we've been seeing the signs for a while, the plane was losing altitude, but everything seemed in control. In the last year or so, it FEELS like the engines blew up and the flight controls are gone. we're in a nose dive steeper then a Japanese Dive Bomber from Pearl Harbor. Our only hope is to wrestle the plane into Presslar or Eisner (both if possible) and pray the casualties (on board)are minimal.

(Wow, I'm Disney Depressed this week. Don't worry, I'm sure next week I'll be my Chipper self and all Y'all will be scratchin your heads.)

YoHo, One and Only master of the Pink bouncy!

Congratulations. I got thrown off that cliff, err, I mean, I made that particular life change back in June.

The Main Street Electrical Parade Theme was our recessional (go ahead, someone just try to name a happier song; one that holds more promise for things just beginning. Doesn't even need lyrics...); it was the highest profile of a dozen or more Disney songs that made it into our festivities. Walking past the guests as they were, in turn, confused by the synth voice, then giggly with recognition, was one of many high points of our wedding. I hope that your ceremony comes off with the same almost inconceivable level of luck ours did ("Inconceivable!" "I don't think that word means what you think it means..." Sorry, I was sick Monday and Tuesday and Princess Bride is making the rounds on cable movie channels. "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." "Stop SAYING that!").

If you're interested, send me a PM and I can get you in touch with folks who make white chocolate Cinderella Castles for the top of your wedding cake. Ours looked great!

Then we jumped into Car #3 and headed to WDW for our honeymoon. Hmmm, a pretty questionable attempt to get back on-topic, I guess. At any rate, I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread, multiple Jeffs and all.

Jeff

Actually, our wedding theme is focused more on a Lake Michigan/Nautical/Lighthouse theme. My Parents own a cottage up in Wisconsin on the lake that My Fiancee' Fell in love with. So we will unfortunatly NOT be having the total Disney Wedding as I had hoped. However, aside from Kiss the girl many of the introductions will be Disney songs and Barring changes due to an upcoming job change on my part we will be spending the honeymoon at WDW and on a 7-day Disney Cruise. So, I'll get my Disney too.

It's not necessarily "happier", but at my wedding 3 years ago my husband and I used Star Wars' Massassi Throne Room room (at the end of the movie) followed by the Cantina song #1 as our recessional.

Beauty & the Beast was our first dance, and we had Mickey/Minnie toasting goblets. Our cake top was a castle that wasn't Cinderella's but gave it that impression. It took forever to find a castle cake top! All the instrumental music that played before the wedding was from the Disney animated features, plus Bella Notte (we got married in the evening). I think that's it...unless you count that we got married on the 4th of July because I wanted fireworks just like at Disney. I joke to my parents that I saved them $15,000! (That's what private fireworks at DL cost back then).

We also played most of the Princess Bride soundtrack during dinner. I think our guests thought the whole thing a little bizarre at first but they all agreed they shouldn't have suspected anything different from us.

We also took 2 honeymoons. A 4-night one to DL right away, and a 9-night one at WDW for my birthday and Christmas. The WDW one was my best trip to WDW ever, magic up the wazzu. I wonder if my WDW trips will improve if we wear the wedding ears again.

YoHo and JeffJ:
We had the usual Disney trappings at our wedding too. The thing I remember most is that we were rushing through all the reception stuff so we could get to WDW sooner! The wedding was almost a clever ruse so that we could plan a Disney trip!
This may be shocking for some but recent developments have caused me to move to car #2. I'm confused as to what direction Disney is headed and that rose colored windsheild was giving me a headache...
