I have taken out the Virgin car hire insurance package in advance but will I be required to pay anything extra by Dollar or leave a credit card imprint?

There are 2 of us plus 6 year old daughter and have been allocated a 2 door compact.

Im conscious of limitations of US boot (trunk) space but will such a vehicle accommodate 2 large cases?

If not is it worth upgrading and if so what are the extra costs for a 10 day stay?

Any ideas welcome as usual.

They'll certainly want a credit card imprint.

Not sure what Virgin's package includes. Things to check which you might have to pay for are extra drivers (only 1 usually covered), tank of fuel, 3rd party top up. The latest attempt to squeeze money out of us is 'uninsured motorist topup' which some UK companies don't yet include. All these are optional.

You don't say what type of car you're renting but if it's a compact 2 large suitcases should be OK - depends how large. A sub-compact and you might struggle.

We had a compact in December but with one large and two medium cases. Everything fitted in the trunk ok, but it really depends on how big your large cases are.

We've had other compact models before that didn't have as much space and we ended up with a case on the back seat. It might be a little tricky with a two-door, but still doable for the journey to the hotel and back later. I would think the upgrade to an intermediate 4 door would probably be around £30-35. Local taxes may go up as result of this, and therefore your Virgin insurance might also be affected - worth checking with them first perhaps.

Haven't done the all-inclusive deal for a few years now, but I seem to remember they still wanted a credit card imprint from us, i'm afraid - hopefully someone else will have more recent experience.

Hello

I came back on the 2 jan 02 (sigh) and had the Virgin insurance. We did not have to leave a credit card imprint.

CC imprint is normally only required if you don't have the Virgin pre-paid insurance.

I stand corrected though very surprised! What do they do about any extra charges you incur?
