Cars Land updates

Sounds like a good day to be in DCA and riding all the rides EXCEPT those in CarsLand! Hope this is just an opening-day thing and not going to be the norm for this summer. We're doing our first DL trip in a few weeks, but I'm not going to wait in line that long for one ride. Especially not with a five and seven year old along.

And remember, they probably already stood in line half the night to get in!

But really, their goal is not to experience the whole park today, it's really to be able to say they rode the ride on opening day. It's one of those crazy things people do for fun, like climbing a mountain or bungee jumping.

:thumbsup2

Well said... I think I can understand why people would be willing TODAY to stand in line all day, so they can say "I rode it the very 1st day". I personally wouldn't do it, but I can understand how some might be willing to.

However... If people are still waiting in line 5+ hours a month from now, now that would be silly IMO :)

MouseWait is showing 135 minutes for RSR, 120 minutes for single rider and no FPs available. It also has LFT @ 135 and MJJ @ 90.

hate to break it to you but it will be bad all summer....and since i see this will be your first trip to DL I can understand your thinking that DCA will be good overall....:sad2:...there are a ton of people there..in line or not....and overall DCA is not really spread out ...i still feel its compact in the scheme of things

I will gladly skip RSR if I have to wait longer than an hour and a half. Even THAT is pushing it for me. So many other things to do.

I just told the wife about the 5 hour line and said I have no problem skipping it and she said that I was silly for even THINKING that we wouldn't ride it lol.

I'm thinking we will have to get in line like we were there for MM, but without the early admission, just to make sure we are one of the first few in there. Even then we'll probably be in store for over an hour wait.

Give if a few months and it will be back to normal again. It will be busy for the summer months and people will want to see it, but after some time you will find like any attraction it will stop being so busy. Even after a few weeks, you will find it busy but nothing like today. Its just the hype that after a 5 year wait and seeing it being built, its exciting to be able to see it for the first time. Plus you know there will be open day festivities going on and that will draw in crowds.

MouseWait has a max input of 135 minutes. The real time is over 5 hours.

How can you say that with such certainty?? How 'bout "hate to break it to you but I think it will be bad all summer...

APs do get blocked, people do have jobs, I visited 4th of July 2 years ago 7/3-7/6, other than the evening of the 4th the crowds were minimal. I've visited the last 2 Thanksgivings *Thu-Sat *'10 being much less crowded than last year, I think this is because last year through now and for how much longer??? all of CA can get the monthly AP payment plan. I live as close to DLR as people at the top of CA, if I lived that far away and had an AP with no blockouts I'd visit on Holiday weekends *maybe* and that's what people did last Thanksgiving - still it wasn't so bad, again 2010 was better crowd wise.

We visited DLR on a Wed in mid July 2009 - here's how we spent our day.

So maybe, just maybe July through late August *but once the APs are unblocked watch out* will be OK, I don't know for sure but it'd be nice if I were right :)

I know I am aging myself here, but when I was 11, me and my 8 year old little brother spend about 4 hours in line for the wonderful new ride at DisneyLand called "Space Mountain". We were there the opening weekend and I still even have the free Space Mountain bumper sticker they handed to us (I wonder what it is worth?)

We waited in the line for those 4 hours and when we finally got to the inside portion of the queue, it broke down.....we waited and waited and finally a voice came over the intercom to inform us the ride was broke down and they did not know how long it would be down. We had the option of waiting or leaving the line. We waited about 30 minutes more and then decided we had missed enough of Disneyland waiting on the ride and got up and walked to the "chicken" exit and left. As we were going down the escalator they came over the intercom again to say the ride was back up..:sad2:

The good news is that my parents actually let us stay in the park until after midnight that trip and we were able to finally get on thre ride. :thumbsup2

good grief!! this wasnt a personal attack..its based upon the fact that I live near DL and my daugter lives 20 min from there and I have gone a billion times and ive been through many many changes over the years with rides alone ie TSM still being long lines, Nemo still having long lines..let alone a whole park...and I just know how its going to be...not trying to frighten anyone or start a war..im just that certain:confused3

This isn't war :hippie:  I just hope you're wrong and there aren't 3 hour waits for RSR all summer for those visiting, our next visit is 10/23-25 a Tue-Thu; we'll see how that goes. My kids and I have no problem using SR lines *yay for RSR & Matterhorn! Thanks to the DIS we know the value of getting there early, collecting FP wisely and using them later.

summer in general is really bad because kids are out of school and summer is usually vacation time...also, castmembers are not being able to take any vacation time because Disney themselves anticipate it being the most crowded and i heard that straight from a "suit" who had been with Disney for over 20 years....i think you need to go into it thinking that its going to be horrid and not have high expectations of getting alot done this summer but i do feel that although it will still be crowded in Oct., it will be better than this summer for sure:thumbsup2

I wonder.... again I've been there in July twice since 2009, I think some out of towners think it'll be too hot *S CA is lovely, cooler than where I live* and it'll be crazy crowded. The trick really is getting there early, I couldn't believe how uncrowded it was between 8 and 10am 4th of July and the days around it, people like to sleep in on vacation I suppose ~ Disney is not for sleeping in, we do take our mid day breaks *naps* when hours are 8am-12am, it'll be odd visiting with shorter hours in Oct. we're used to long hours *past few visits.

Knowing how bad TSM is @ DHS, I gotta think you are right on the money on this. Standard wait times will likely be in the 2-hour range.

I was wondering if anyone had a picture of the NEW PARK MAP for DCA?

ARIELLE has been on it for the last year. Was hoping CARSLAND was on the cover!

Anyway, I bet it looks awesome now with the addition of CARSLAND and BVS!!!

Just caught this comment on MiceAge:

EDITOR’S NOTE 6/15: Welcome to all our new readers. You'll find our coverage about the redo of Disney's California Adventure park updated below. | John Lasseter was overheard telling a cast member yesterday that today would be "Armageddon." It should prove to be an interesting weekend. - Al Lutz

Yup.

$10 this makes the national news tonight. First Bieber Fever in NYC and now this.
