Hi all,

Im a long time lurker and DH and I are debating a quick jaunt to disney for the opening of carsland. Are we insane? Any predictions on crowds etc? Also wondering when it will slow down a bit (as in are we better to go a few days before and leave on the 16th or are we better to arrive the day before/day of opening and stay until the monday/tuesday). Any input would be much appreciated. Also we r debating on bring dd. She has physical mobility issues and we would get a GAC for her. Are these useable in carsland? Also any info on fantasmic etc for that time? Im trying to convince DH since I think this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

If you want to see Cars Land go when it's open, after the 15th.

Though I would suggest you don't go on the 14th, because DCA will be closed and that means people who would be going to DCA will have to pack into DL.

The 15th being a big day will be super crazy in the area and in DCA, but probably only a little worse in DL.

The 16th will probably be very busy but not insane in areas like the day before.

The 17th very busy with AP locals taking a chance to go.

The 18th and 19th better during the week. Though the 19th has a Grad Nite so there may be a lot of teens there arriving through out the day.

The 20th a good day.

The 21st and 22nd good but also Grad Nites so will get worse as the day goes on.

Cars Land will be busy for quiet a while so for it, there really isn't a great day, probably until the Fall.

Any input re bringing dd and if we can use the guest assistance pass on the cars land rides? Also any clue about fantasmic that weekend?

I'm sure you GAC will apply to any ride just the same wether that attration is old or new. Though last year some people with GACs had a terrible attitude getting on LM and ST which were new. They were complaining because thier wait wasn't minimal due to the number of people needing to use GACs and the HCA accesses.

What is your concern with Fantasmic? It will like start running nightly that weekend if it isn't nightly before.

I don't think there will be any crowds! Also leave DD at home because Disneyland isn't for kids, it's for adults!

I hope I'm misinterpreting your post cause to me it sounds snarky. I fully realize dl is for kids too (we've never been sans children). I'm genuinely concerned about crowds for dd sake and am not
Sure if she should come with us or not (she has already been 3 times this year). I apologize if I misinterpreted.

Crazyduck was just being, well, Crazyduck.

Carsland (and the Grand Re-opening of DCA) has been a four year project. People have been tracking its progress for four years. People have tried to plan vacations around the opening date. It's going to be busy. How busy? Probably crazy busy. To some, asking if it will be busy is akin to asking if the water is wet. It's just sort of a given. :goodvibes So, CrazyDuck was basically being a bit of a smartie, but probably felt that it was a rhetorically question. Of course, I cannot speak for CrazyDuck, but that's my take. :wizard:

As for using a GAC: No one knows the layout of the queues or how exactly they will work with the GAC (muchless without it), but it is used throughout the Disneyland Resort and I would get one if you need it. You didn't say if your DD uses a wheelchair, but if she does, she doesn't need a GAC as her wheelchair "speaks" for itself; however, it never hurts to get one, just to be sure.

You can find times for all shows, parades, etc. on Disneyland's website.
