Hi! I'll be visiting from Asia and just found out my 3 days in Disneyland 16-18 june will coincide with the opening of cars land. My boys (6&9) and I are thrilled as we didn't even know abt it's existence but at the same time, I'm nervous the crowds will be baaaad:scared1:

Pardon my dumb question but how crowded can such openings be?? I've visited DL before at the height of summer when school's out and queues for rides are 1-2 hrs long. And already this was sapping....Will this be a lot lot worse? Does DL limit the numbers of visitors into their parks on occasions like these?

I want to mentally prep my 2 boys.... And myself! :rotfl2:

Thanks!

its going to be a bit over crouded but you can still have a good time here is what i would do.

I would see most of DL before trying to do DCA (whee cars land will be at)
When you go to DCA make sure you get there early. Or use your MM for DCA and get an hour head start to see the parts of carsland you want to see.
I know you said you are coming from Asia, and three days will be enough to see most of the parks but I wouldnt worry about some of the rides you and your family may not want to do. Look at the maps, chose your Must do's first. Also use fast pass it will help. Collect what you can in the morning for the big rides.

Also dont forget to have fun, take pics and stop and smell the roses. Dont get your self to stressed out trying to see everything. You and your fam wont have any fun if you do that.
I like charcter meals because we can see 6-12 charcters while we eat. It saves time from getting signetures and pics. Much better to spend the time some do in lines for autographs and pics, to go get on rides lol.

Hope i helped a bit Have fun

Hi! Are you able to stay at one of the Disney properties? You will be able to attend Magic Mornings and this will help a ton.

We still don't know if Magic Mornings will take place in DCA, and if they do how they will work. I would pay close attention as this information emerges in the next couple weeks.

In Cars Land expect the attractions to have very long waits. Use FastPass or the Single Rider line on Radiator Springs Racers. The FastPasses may all be distributed early in the morning.

Most of the crowds will be concentrated at DCA and I suspect DL will be fairly normal if not lighter than normal. That DCA would pull crowds from DL would be a first!

In DCA I suspect the crowds will be more in the new areas - Cars Land, Buena Vista Street, and Mad T Party. The rest of DCA will look more normal but probably a bit more crowded than normal.

Rather than going in fearful, look at it as a special event where you get to be there the day after CL opened. And you will get most bang for the buck by getting to the parks early, taking afternoon breaks and then coming back in the evening. Standard stuff.

:wizard:

Carsland is between Bugs Land and Pacific Wharf. Here's a picture for reference:

We were there for the opening of the nemo sub. It was an experience I'll just say that much. However, if you go in to it with the expectation of it being crowded and keep a sense of humor you will be fine. Also take advantage of the evening hours at the park. A lot of time it thins the herd when its sleep time for little ones.

We were there 2 weeks after Nemo subs opened. My memory is that Nemo subs were crazy with 2-3 hour lines, and the lines in the morning to get into DL were extra, extra long, but everything else was pretty normal. I suspect after June 15 that will be the case as well.

Thanks everyone for your comments & suggestions. Yes I agree, the only way to enjoy Disney is to just relax and go with the flow! And will stay at a Disney hotel for convenience.
It's fortunate we've been to DL twice so there's less pressure to do all but our last visit was 4 yrs ago before the monsters inc & toy story attractions were out so we're very excited! But eeks they are in DCA no?

Btw I see people talk abt BTMRR - which ride is this? Can't figure the acronym out! thanks again, this boarded so helpful!

See "DLR Abbreviations List"
Big Thunder Mtn Railroad

Wow! Thanks HydroGuy, great list and you started it in 2007? Brilliant job :thumbsup2

For the uninitiated, the acronyms on this board can be real head scratchers!

California Adventure will reach capacity before 1:00 pm,
and close admissions.
:furious:

Ref: Today the parks were busy, at 1:00 they were requireing a hand stamp for all readmissions including Annual Passport holders.
It will be much much worse that first week.

Wow! Does that mean that even if you have a valid ticket, once it reaches capacity, DCA will not admit you? Thks.

This is my prediction only...... However it is based on the continued increase in attendence this year, as shown by restricting re-admission today ( A normally SLOW! day).

And, the crowds for the "One more Disney Day" of Feb 29th, where there was a record 106,000 attendence, with a three hour backup to get into the park, the freeway was blocked up for miles, admission closed at times, and nearly 1,000,000 passholders wanting to be first to ride Radiator Springs Racers.

How bad will the crowds be? Well if you are familiar with "black Friday" that will give you an idea. Another good example would be if there was a black out, no telling what wildness might take place; babies crying, CM's expressions turning from disgust to horror including but not limited to crying, sweating profusely, muttering under their breath, then needing to take a 10 minute break for the rest of the day, strollers running over people, people being stepped on, grown men fainting, old ladies getting the vapors, tots dropping their Mickey suckers on the pavement, peoples shoes, getting them stuck on the goats, just not good, especially if you are the goats. I could so easily continue but I don't want to alarm anyone.

Just remember, fast passes, MM and arrive at the park at or before opening....

Have fun!
