Here is from NJ Dept. of Homeland Security email I received today. ( I am in the security industry).
Security Measures Taken:* Due to the increased threat level, all pre-cautionary measures have been taken at all bus, rail and air terminals throughout the US and New Jersey.* At all airports, NO LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED IN CARRY ON BAGGAGE. ITEMS MUST BE IN CHECKED BAGGAGE. This includes all beverages, shampoo, sun tan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency. Exception: Baby formula and medicines must be presented for inspection at the checkpoint. Travelers in the USshould expect increased security measures at airports as well as flight delays and/or cancellations. USFederal Air Marshals are being sent to the UK, and further Advanced Response Teams will be implemented.
Looks like you just can't carry these things on with you at this time. This is due to the fact that the explosive that was supposed to be used was in liquid form.
