carrying tickets and lunch -- lanyards, hip packs - fit on rides?

Can you wear small hip packs on the rides? Last time we were there (2012), we were able to do that. If not, what do most people use to carry their tickets and express passes, cell phones? If we want to bring sandwiches/lunch food with us, what's the best strategy to do so if we can't wear the hip packs on rides? I don't want to have to keep stashing them in lockers. We like bringing in a lunch so we can eat as we each get hungry and don't have to waste time looking for food.

Tickets, ID, keycards, express pass, insurance card, cc, and a bit of cash are in my Witz "see it safe" hard plastic waterproof lanyard pouch on my ravenclaw school tie lanyard.

Sunscreen, waters, and food are in my Igloo brand MaxCold cooler backpack. Cellphone, too, when needed.

For the relatively FEW rides that require locker use, we put the backpack in there. Lanyards are allowed on all rides.

Waist packs with 3prong clasps are allowed on all but the metal detector rides I believe.

But I don't use waist packs.

OP Can't swing a minion without hitting a food cart/venue in the parks :D. I wouldn't worry about the need to look for food in the parks.

Snacks are permitted, likely could bring in a small sandwich pp, note the maximum cooler size. A string-type backpack...the type you can just roll up and stick in your pocket afterwards might be your best bet to hold snacks.

Here's the official rules from the parks website:

If you go through security after 5pm, they will only allow sealed bottles/containers.

Store your food/lunch items in the all day lockers at the front of the studio park
You get a lot in the family lockers and one fee covers entire day for it

You can open and close it as much as you want

I haven't been since 2010 so please pardon the dumb questions-

Some rides require you to pass thru a metal detector? If yes, if you have your cell phone in your pocket, are you required to put that into a locker as well (just for the duration of the ride?)

Im looking to go bag free - but would have my cell phone in my pocket - but if its not allowed on the rides then maybe I don't need to stress about going bag free...

TIA!

Yes, no cell phones on rides with metal detectors. You must put them in a locker.

Think the list for no cells are on 5 rides

My cell phone in my pocket for many of the rides I do

I was nervous after reading how everyone wore lanyards and nobody brought bags in. My experience was having a small sling backpack wasn't a big deal at all. The lockers were really easy to use. We did all have lanyards for our express passes and tickets.
