How do all of you carry your room keys for FOTL access? It'll be me, hubby and our 3 boys ages 10-15. Not sure if I should buy a lanyard or something so that they can easily get to it. Do you have to hand it to the ride attendant for scanning? I don't want to dig out all of their keys every time.

I just carry them in the front pocket of my fanny pack. DS usually just sticks his in his pocket (which is secured by velcro). Some people us lanyards. They will hole punch your card at front desk if you want to clip it on a lanyard.

We purchased lanyards and when we checked in at the RPR she punched a hole in each of our room keys. Two of our boys are older, so this was an easy way for them to keep up with thier own key, since we did split up during the day....... and having them on the lanyards around thier necks was great, since they didn't have to get them in and out of something each time......... too easy to loose that way!!!! And, since you do have to scan your card at each ride, just having it hang around your neck is such EASY access.

As far as the AP, not sure why'd you'd need it on a lanyard..... but I suppose you could do that.

Last week while we were staying at Disney before our move over to the Hard Rock, one day my daughter and I went to the Premium Outlet Mall. In the Universal outlet store they had there, they had a display of all their key chains reduced to $1.00. I picked up a couple that have the squigly telephone cord attached to the keychain (I think they were the grinch). When we got to Universal, I had the girl at the front desk punch a hole in the kids keys, and they attached it to the keychain.... they removed the rubber grinch thing, and wore them around their wrists....it really worked out great. My husband and I were sorry that we didn't have them too, since we were constantly digging around in our pockets to show our keys. It was funny, because the girl punched holes in all our keys, and each time we showed ours at a ride, the person checking the keys would notice the hole and didn't think it was a key to one of their hotels until they looked closer, lol.... Hope this suggestion is useful.

Have fun! :sunny:

We had a little hard case that I wore around my neck for easy access. Only at Spiderman did that actually scan our room keys. All other rides we could just flash the cards. No one checked dates or ID or anything. And we were there during Spring Break (3/24-3/30). This kinda upset me a little, but have to say that we rarely saw anyone flashing hotel keys. Most guests had the express passes that were either free or the booklets you bought. Made me wonder where the rest of the hotel guests were!

Kept my AP handy the same way for when we purchased food or merchandise. You get a nice discount in the parks.

am i understanding you guys right? i have to carry room cards for the kids as well?

Yes, everyone needs a card to gain front of the line access.
