Carrying Refillable Mugs at the Parks

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to purchase either of the refillable drink cup options while at the parks. Do either of them have a plastic loop/carry strap that I could attach to a waist pack or crossbody bag? The two bags we're bringing are very small, so we'll either have to carry the cup (pain!) or be able to hook it to our bag strap somehow.

The one day unlimited drink cup has a hook thing, the $.99 refills cup we thread the straw through my bag and into both sides of the lid, which works fairly well.

Which option would you recommend for a thirsty 12 year old?

It depends on how many days you are there. I personally prefer the $.99 refill red ones, as I am there usually 2 days at a time at minimum, and for me that's the better deal. We did buy the freestyle cup this past trip for $10.99 which gives unlimited refills same day at the coke freestyle machines, but you have to buy a new chip for second day, seems like was $8 for the extra day, and to me it wasn't worth it for that, especially as there are a limited number of the free machines, but the red cups can be refilled EVERYWHERE.

Thanks. We'll be there 4 days. Someone on the Sea World forum said the regular refillable Universal Cups were usable at Sea World - do you know if this is true?

there are some rides that make it necessary for you to use the lockers to store your mugs.

Why would SeaWorld honor a refillable cup you bought at Universal? They are completely different companies. I have not heard of such an arrangement. SeaWorld may honor refillable cups bought at Busch Gardens or Aquatica or Discovery Cove or Adventure Island since they are the same company and do a lot of cross promotion and have multi-park tickets.

I called guest services the other day to ask about dining plans and refillable mugs v/s freestyle free refill mug. they told me the .99 cent refillable was the souvenir butterbeer which has no lid, yikes!

Well, I have no idea why they would. I've read it in two or three different posts, though, so I figured I'd ask over here. Guess they're wrong.

the butterbeer comes in a souvenir mug.
never been a lid on those mugs.

it looks like a small beer mug in a way.

There's a couple of posts in the SeaWorld forum that I found through the search engine that indicate it was done(There may be more, I just wasn't going to spend anymore time looking). HOWEVER, both posts were made by the same poster and she was using SW cups at US(not the other way around). I'm wondering if it was just a fluke. Maybe she only used it once or twice at US and those particular employees just filled it up and didn't bother telling her any different?

There is also a normal refillable cup...not mug. Butterbeer comes in a refillable mug, soda comes in a collectible souvenir cup.

Team Members doing refills on the wrong cups? That I believe. I don't know the color of the SeaWorld refillable cup, my old Busch Gardens one is purple.

I'm glad to know it was misinformation so I don't make an *** of myself walking in trying to get refills with the wrong cup :-). I'm leaning towards the Freestyle cup anyway at this point since we'll be spending 4 full days at the parks, and it seems we'd get our money's worth with the $8.99 per day on subsequent days.

If I get the butter beer mugs and I am staying at PBR can I have those mugs taken to my room when finished with them? Like a store bought trinket?

if you shop and want that sent to your room, you could add the mug to the bag.

you get hotel delivery to your room as long as you are not checking out the next day.

if you are, have the merch sent to the front of the store to be picked up when you leave the park.

Well.... Blackstone which owns Seaworld USED to own 50% of the Universal Orlando Resort. (They sold their 50% to Comcast shortly after Comcast's purchase of NBCUniversal was approved). Without knowing all the details, I could see both parks honoring discounted refills of the other's park's souvenir cups at one time. I wouldn't expect it to be policy anymore though now that the ownership is completely separate.

We went in August of last year, and had the red cup refilled at SeaWorld several times :) They are about the same size as the SeaWorld ones, but we only took them on the off-chance that they would fill them up, otherwise we'd buy a large drink and fill up the cup ourselves, because they're just so much easier to carry! (We do a similar thing with our resort mugs in WDW)
