I am thinking we will be whipping them out a lot. Do I need to get us all the kind of lanyards that fit an id? We are hoping not to bring any bags.

We always use badge/ID holders that are on a retractable cord. It just clips right on our waistbands or beltloops. I hate things around my neck, especially in the heat.

I purchased Harry Potter lanyards on Amazon for between $8 and $9 each (Gryffindor, Slytherin and then a generic HP one for my three kids) as part of the "surprise package" when I let the kids know we are going. However, these are ones for around their necks and I am a little concerned about this. I will still see if there is another way we can use them if they seem to be annoying or a safety hazard, but they are pretty nice!

We have the ones bought (the basic Universal black ones) in the park. The ones we have are not a safety problem. They have a Velcro pull apart if they get stuck. We have has them for about 5 years now with no issues.:thumbsup2

I just keep mine in my fanny pack. It really isn't a big deal.

Do they sell any lanyards in the parks or is it better to pre-purchase ahead?

They sell lots of lanyards with many different themes. They also sell pins and do pin trading with cast members. We had a lot of luck trading with all of the cast members working at merchandise carts. My kids enjoyed it, especially my 11yr. old boys. They liked the Marvel and Harry Potter themed pins.

Back to the topic at hand, we kept our i.d.'s in our back pockets.

If they are from Universal, they should have the velcro connector that is the safety feature.

If your kids are little, you could do what my son loved to do (with Disney lanyards, he's too big to do it now that he has a Gryffindor lanyard), and put it cross-body. He felt he was a pirate when he did that. :)

If they are a bit older and wearing shorts/pants with pockets and belt loops, they could do what I've started doing. Don't tell them an adult is doing it, LOL. I've been looping it around my belt loop and putting the pouch in my pocket. I like it better than wearing it around my neck.

Last trip instead of my normal Tinkerbell pouch (the zipper on it has died, so sad), I got one of those clear plastic water resistant things. It's bigger, can hold more cards, and I even put a few dollars in it. The brand is Witz and it's called a "see it safe".

We carry ours in Lanyards around our necks, just tuck them down into our teeshirts on rides if we have to.

I bought plain black ones from walmart with a clear window in the front.Easy to tuck down into your shirt( and I rode Hulk and Dragon Challenge)and it didn't budge at all. They were also able to scan the express pass right thru the plastic

when we check into the hotel, won't they punch holes in our passes so we can attach the passes right onto the lanyards??

When we were at the Universal Park in Hollywood last year, they put the express passes in lanyards and handed them to us. It was so convenient to have them around our necks so that the guards (or whatever they're called) could easily see them as we approached an attraction. I haven't been to the park in Orlando in 2 or 3 years and was wondering if they're doing this same type of thing too. But I guess not....

Oooh, I will check that out! Thanks for the suggestions! The HP lanyards I purchased do not have the velcro safety feature, so that is a concern for me, though I see others are using lanyards without that too. I am sure we will find an alternative way to use them.

if you buy the express plus pass, it is the strong paper.
if you stay onsite, you use your hotel key card for express usage.
the hotel cards are similar in size and material as a credit card.
