Carrying a Tripod in the Parks

I'm planning on taking my tripod with me so I can do some shots. And the wife has actually agreed to let me stay in the parks after she takes DD to bed!

So what I would like to do is bring the tripod with me and store it in a locker. I've never used the lockers. How big are they?

How do I pay for them? Cash only?

Where are they in the parks?

Thanks!

Locker rentals are up front in all parks, right after the entrance - under the train station at the MK, the round kiosk with Mickey on top at MGM, inside one of the first buildings at Epcot, etc. The large lockers should hold most modern collapsable tripods. Unless the price has gone up they are $12 per day and you get $5 back when you return the key, so really only $7 total. You can pay with credit card or cash, however you prefer.

Worth it to not have to carry it all day or make trips back to the car or resort to get it!

Awesome! Thanks!

my full size tripod will not fit in a locker unless I take off the head. You may also have to angle it. My small tripod fits just fine.

WDW locker sizes are:

Small - 11"h x 9"w x 16" deep
Large - 17"h x 9"w x 16" deep
Extra-large - 17"h x 12"w x 16" deep

With Pythagoras Theorem (see, this stuff we learned in math class is finally useful) we can find the diagonal, 21.4" for the small locker.

if you park hop, they give you a voucher so you can get one in the next park for free on that same day if you ask for one.
at the Studios just don't do what i did and try to use the ones outside the entrance...they aren't working (if they are still there) and i had to get a cast member to get my tripod back when it got stuck :headache::blush:

No way will my medium sized tripod (Bogen 3021) fit in any of the lockers at WDW. But if you ask nicely, they will store it for you behind the counter for free. I did this a couple of times at Epcot and had no problems either time. BTW, don't ask at the locker rental counter, go to guest relations.

Yep, they are still there as are the ones outside of Epcot I believe...

So you can keep your big tripods behind the counter in guest relations of the locker rental counter? I always thought you had to ask them behind the locker rental counter.

At least at Epcot, you don't ask at the locker rental counter, they will not store it for you there. Instead, you go to guest relations on the opposite side of Spaceship Earth. I don't know if this holds true for all the parks or just Epcot.

Just to report back, getting the lockers worked great!

My tripod fit with no problem! I even left the camerabag in there a few time as well.

Thanks for the info!

My husband's tripod fit in the large lockers at the Studios if he removed the head, but not in any of the other parks...the rest of the time we found that we could check it behind the desk at Guest relations and could come back and get it when we were ready to use it.

He's in the midst of sorting and editing, and I can't wait to post some shots when he's done. The ones at night with the tripod turned out awesome!

Post a link when he uploads them!

Thanks for the info guys. This is what I was looking for. So don't want to lug that thing around all the time.
So when you checked it with guest relations how did you tag it etc... to make sure that you got YOUR tripod back and not someone elses?
