I am a newbie heading to US and IOA. I am seeing posts of no bags allowed on most rides and the need for lockers. I want to travel light and yet I wany access to water. How do people handle the water bottle thing or are there water stations etc. I hate to be buying water all day. Do you carry a refillable bottle?

We carry a small back/fanny pack with 2 bottle holders - very convenient. Freezing the bottles overnight works well - they tend to thaw just when you need them plus refills are chilled too. Since we styaed at RPR this year we had no freezer, just took iced water with us. Refills from park fountains are usually cool, not cold, bit it was OK for us.

You can get a cup of ice water for free from carts and inside restaurants. But it can be a bit of a challenge pouring the water into the water bottle from the paper cup.

If the location you're looking at to get a refill from has a handheld drink dispenser, you can get a refill directly into your water bottle.

I just carried a water bottle around with me all day when at the parks. You can hang onto the water bottles on the rides. I didn't go on the roller coasters, but carrying the water was fine on Superman, Simpons, etc. There are tons of water fountains around the park. The fountains were actually pretty warm, but I'd bet that was because in July the pipes are just too hot.

HIYA 2Relax - let me give u my personal experience on this topic. We were @ US/IOA from 8/3 thru 8/9. I found out that u can bring in snacks, water bottles in backpacks. What happens is that UNIVERSAL has these checkpoints set up b4 boarding the moving floors on the way to CityWalk. Each security guard gingerly peeks in ALL bags(no exceptions), but really doesn't dig deep. It's nothing like going through TSA. What I did was buy a case of 16 oz bottles of water(Walgreens) and I would freeze 6-8 bottles the night b4. By mid-day, they're well on the way to thawing out while suppling ice cold water all day. Also, the parks have a semi-large souvenir bottle that they r selling. Buying one enables u to get re-fills of soda/water for 85 cents!!! It was a lifesaver. The promotion @ the time was buy two, get a third one free. So, @ $7 a pop, I was able to get all three of my kiddos a souvenir bottle w/ unlimited 85 cent refills. Now the disclosure - the bottle says its only good for "the day it was purchased", however I brought our three on DAY 1, and we would return everyday with them, no questions asked - EVER. We used our bottles to our hearts content all seven days. And the variety of soft drinks and the various stands is pretty broad. For me, I enjoyed the COKE zero, while da kiddos enjoyed the rootbeer, and orange fanta. BTW- bottles can also be filled with ICEE, & u get a discount as well. I hope this helps out. ENJOY!

Ooo, good ICEE tip, thanks! That will be a refreshing change. :thumbsup2

We plan on buying a souvenir cup, which means we'll have to put in a locker for RRR, Mummy, and FJ. But what about the other rides, has anyone had any luck carrying on souvenir cups?

Have a great week, everyone. :goodvibes

My wife brings one of those metal water bottles. Any vendor who sells fountain drinks will geve you ice water for free and they put ice in the bottle for her. No need to freeze bottles in advance or buy refillable cups unless you prefer soda to water.
