carry-on security??? whos flown lately?

hey all you "just got back" dissers, can you tell me what the carry-on situation is like at airports these days? we have a few bags that will fit overhead and have always made it via carry-on before. is the size requirements still the same? o9r these days are you only alowed to walk onto a plane with your wallet and a few diapers?

The new FAA mandate is one carry one and one personnal item. Please check www.faa.gov as these things keep changing. In addition, an airline can impose stricter restrictions such as no carryons. The best advice is to keep in contact with your airline either by calling the 800-number or if you can weasel the number out of the Airport, the airline's local number.

I was on a flight a couple of weeks ago. They seem to be pretty strict about the one carry-on plus a purse, briefcase or laptop. Most of the people I saw had regulation size carry ons. I only saw one person with a large one that wouldn't fit under a seat and it was a long thin package. They were not sizing bags at that time, but I think they would if your bag is obviously large. I will say it makes loading and unloading the plane alot faster when all the overhead bins are not filled to capacity and people only have one bag to carry down the aisle.
