Looking for a new carry-on for our November trip...Does anyone have any reccomendations? Also, does anyone own the personal organizer from LLbean? Looks like it fits full size bottles which would be great...

Considering all the restrictions, it may be unnecessary. I'm bringing my purse that's a backpack style that can hold my camera and video camera.

I say go for a plain backpack to toss the cameras... a change of clothing... and your id, confirmation, etc. put all the rest in the checked luggage. That way its on your back, no need to juggle bags that way... and if your checked luggage doesn't show... YOU GET TO GO SHOPPING!

i have the organizer... i think i have the medium sized one. i love it. everything fits and it hangs on the shower rod.

With all of the new restrictions imposed by last week's terrorist activity, I would not count on carrying on anything liquid, including shampoo, make-up, etc.

I had some friends traveling on Sunday (after the new restrictions were in place) and they said they were making passengers throw away anything that could possibly be a problem -- and we're talking about things like liquid make-up, shampoo, chapstick, lipstick, etc.! You can check this stuff in your checked luggage, but they will make you toss out anything remotely suspicious in their carry-ons. There were many people upset with these new rules (one woman said they were making her throw away about $500 worth of beauty products!) because they didn't tell you about the restrictions until they reached the security checkpoints; because everyone had had already checked their baggage, it didn't give people a chance to move things from their carry-ons to their checked luggage.

Just be aware of the new restrictions and plan to check anything potentially suspicious.

Considering people are 3/4 liquids, I wouldn't count on us being allowed on much longer either. :rotfl2:

My DH and I both have the personal organizer from LLBean. We don't have the smallest size, but I think the next size up. These work great for us, we tend to travel a week at a time at the most. We each pack what we need then we split up DS2's stuff. Full size bottles do fit, but we tend to pack travel sized things. I gave these as gifts to family members who live elsewhere so travel to visit us and the rest of the family. Everyone loves them, plus they come in a nice array of colors - everyone can get a different color or font if you have them monogrammed.
As far as carry-ons, on our recent WDW we just had our diaper bag backpack filled with DS2's stuff to change his diapers, keep him comfy and entertained on the the plane. I also carried a backpack purse (also from LLBean) with stuff to keep DH and I occupied and our tickets, etc.

Go light! I am going in October and plan on bringing a small backpack that will hold my travel documents, a small wallet, my camera and that's it. My father works at the airport and he suggested that we not bring anything with us that we can buy down there. Fortunately for us, we are staying at a condo and we rented a car so we will be taking a trip to the grocery store. I plan on buying my kids shampoo, sun block etc down there so we don't have to pack it. The less you have to carry on with you the quicker you will get through security!
