I haven't flown since all of this TSA stuff has really been in full swing, so it's driving me a bit crazy.

Some folks recommend packing clothes in ziplock bags. If I do this with my carry ons, will this be a problem with TSA? At least in a couple of cases, I was hoping to shove a lot in one bag.

I'm trying to avoid all of the toiletries stuff. That seems like a nightmare to me. So I'm shipping most of that down agead of time. What about make-up?

Sorry if these are silly questions. Thanks for the help.

I'm assuming that you are trying to use carryon bags only. If you are shipping toiletries down, ahead of time, why not pack some clothes in there as well?
Yes, some use plastic bags for their clothes, but doing that can lead to an overweight bag. Since the bags compress so much, you tend to put more in the luggage. But, if you're careful, it can be done. A lot depends on how long you're going to be gone for and how much you like to pack.
I can do carryon for stays of 4 or 5 days or less. But, I don't mind doing a quick load of laundry if needed.

Makeup can pretty much just go in your carryon bag. Anything that will not hold it's shape, if removed from it's container, has to go in the 3/1/1 baggie. I usually put all lip glosses and even my mascara in that baggie. Liquid makeup would as well.
Hope this helps a bit.

When my kids were young I did pack their clothes in ziplock bags - that way they could grab a bag and have their shorts, shirt, etc all nice and neat while they paw thru their suitcases!

but you do want to weigh your suitcases at home - make sure you dont go over that 50# limit

At Christmas we flew RT from Chicago to Houston TX - now my future daughter in law did not put her liquids in the 3/1/1/ quart bag :confused3 (she had a gallon bag, but it would've fit in a quart - I tried to tell her...) The TSA's didnt say anything to her - until the flight home, and even then they let her through - and she flies all the time - around the world too!

I also put my chapstick and lipstick in the bags - as well as any advil, tylenol, vitamins -
